Summary or Overview of the Role

This position is for a Nurse or Paramedic working primarily on interfacility ambulance transports in Eastern Ukraine. This team member will work as part of a three-person team performing medical evacuations of critically injured and emergency medical patients and will take an active role in the day-to-day operational running of the service.

Job Location

Currently working on a rotational basis between Dnipro and MSF bases in Donetsk and Sumy, with potential to travel to other locations in Ukraine. Teams are on call 24/7 in both Slovyansk and Sumy, with appropriate rest times between calls.

Daily Duties
Working together with a doctor and a driver to perform medical evacuations of critically injured and emergency medical patients from eastern regions of Ukraine.- The vast majority of time infield will be spent on call, and the team member must coordinate with other team members to ensure their availability and readiness to respond.
Stocking and replenishing medication, consumables, oxygen, and fuel on the ambulance. Cleaning and sanitizing medical equipment and the ambulance in partnership with the rest of the team.
General maintenance and care for CADUS resources including medical equipment, personal protective equipment, and vehicles, according to needs.
Following CADUS SOPs for monitoring medication and consumable stock levels, in addition to controlled substances tracking.
Providing assistance to other team members in tasks such as inventorying consumables.
Medical record keeping in line with CADUS SOPs.
Active participation in team life, including assisting with upkeep of the co-living environment, and other tasks as required.

Skills Needed to Perform the Job

Essential
Fluent English (Teams are a mixture of nationals and Internationals - Working in English)
At least two years of clinical experience in either emergency care/ITU care/pre hospital setting
High stress tolerance and flexibility
Experience working collaboratively in a diverse team
Complete Covid-19 vaccination (currently three vaccinations) + standard vaccinations recommended by STIKO
Passport valid for at least 6 months upon arrival
International driving license class B – All members of the team will be expected to regularly drive the ambulance.
The ability to travel through Europe visa free to join the project

Desirable
Knowledge of Russian/Ukrainian language
Experience with paediatric and neonatal patients
Previous medevac experience
Previous humanitarian experience, ideally also in hostile environments.

Due to the dynamic nature of the conflict and humanitarian aid in general, all the above, including working locations, are subject to change.
