We have worked before in Greece for asylum-seekers, then in Poland for refugees from Ukraine. Super Novae (www.super-novae.org) is a French non-profit organization specialized on youth empowerment in conflict-affected countries, with a focus on employability and entrepreneurship. Its founding members have long standing experience in conflict sensitive environment and benefit from a wide network of partners in country. Super Novae combines the best of human brains to technological solutions to implement impact-oriented projects which can be monitored on-line.
Both organisations partner through the Mussa’ada project to provide medical care to the populations affected in the area of Derna, after the dramatic floods which happened in September 2023 in the region. Operating from a centre covering different services, the medical area will be able to receive 60-100 patients a day, for a medical consultation, wound dressing, treatment for chronic illnesses, water-borne diseases and psychological support. The team will be composed of Libyan staff and international medical volunteers.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnosis and prevention. Carry out outpatient consultations, prescribing and delivering the necessary treatment(s).
Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow. Ensure the patients or caretakers understand and comply with the treatment. Filling medical records accordingly.
The Medical Doctor is in charge of providing: primary health care (including acute and chronic illnesses), care for SGBV-survivors, antenatal and postnatal care, surveillance and care of water-borne diseases.
Check and control the quality and the rational distribution of medicines, consumables and equipment under his/her responsibility. Ensure the disinfection, and sterilization of all medical material and items. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards, reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control.
Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
Ensure proper reference to hospitals if necessary.
Participate to the team meetings and support the medical coordinator for the production of a periodical medical report on all clinical and health related activities performed by the project.
Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data.
Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team to optimize the quality of care.

Reports to (Functional) : Medical Coordinator Assistant

Duty station : Eastern Libya (likely Darna)

SELECTION CRITERIA
MD degree/License to Practice mandatory (valid licence)
Clinical experience in one of the following fields: General Practioner/Family medicine/Emergency medicine
At least 2 years experience as a Medical Doctor.
IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Desirable experience: Experience in rural areas. Previous experience with a medical NGO.
Essential: Arabic and English
Result oriented, Teamwork, flexibility, commitment, stress management
Available for a minimum of six months
