Key Responsibilities:

1.Provide surgical and related services for the patients of the client.
2. Participate in an afterhours on call roster for services to patients of the client
3. Provide outpatient consultations, pre-operative assessments, consultations and other related surgical services
4. Provide services to other areas as requested.
5. Participate in surgical administrative matters, for example, preparation of medical reports, rosters, technical advice on medical equipment, the preparation of tender specifications and in the committees and staff meetings.
6. Undertake such additional duties as directed by the Regional Medical Director/ PNG FACEM
7. Participate in the Performance Appraisal and Development process.
8. Participate in a working environment supporting quality Human Resource Management
9. Requirements and practices such as Workplace Health & Safety, Employment Equity, antidiscrimination and ethical behavior.

Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements:

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgery (FRACS) in General Surgery or its equivalent on Candidate's country of origin
Demonstrated clinical and procedural experience in Acute (Emergency) General Surgery adequate to undertake the position
Demonstrated ability to provide medical education, teaching, supervision, training and support.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, medical students, others and staff at all levels.
Ability to work effectively, as a team member, in a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
Participation in professional continuing medical education activities including regular performance reviews and a commitment to maintain and upgrade knowledge & skills.
Be available to participation in a 24 hour General Surgery on-call roster.
