Functional Responsibilities
The Medical Officer will ensure good medical practices for operations (and the various training courses requiring the presence of a Nurse (NEDEX training courses (Neutralization and destruction of explosive devices)) and may carry out quality controls throughout the territory. He / she will be the UNMAS Medical referent and will be placed under the supervision of the quality manager, is:
Support the implementation of a training plan for nurses in NEDEX teams (Neutralization and destruction of explosive devices)
Raise awareness in the fields of occupational hygiene for all staff
Ensure daily compliance with hygiene rules within UNMAS offices.
Organize training sessions within UNMAS
Ensure the correct level of UNMAS medical equipment.
Produce a detailed report of the specific corrective actions to be undertaken by the organizations responsible for operations, following an inspection presenting critical non-conformities within the framework of emergency medical support provided for in the organizations' Permanent Operating Procedures (POPs);
Participate in the development of National Technical Standards and Guidelines (NDTN) of mine action concerning medical support, evacuation of the wounded, hygiene, safety and environment at work adapted to the Central African context;
Actively participate in the accreditation process of implementing partners and ensure that emergency medical technicians (TMU) are at the required level in agreement with NDTN and POP;
Assist the Operations Officer during his activities including briefings / presentations, monitoring of Quality Assurance activities, site visits, accident / incident investigations, accreditation / validation of assessments, etc. ;
Participate in the review of corrective measures and the validation of the emergency response plans of the implementing partners of the program activities as well as the internal program plan with MINUSCA and UNDSS;
Support the annual training plan for UNMAS staff and deliver first aid courses, use of the individual emergency kit and traumatic emergency bag (ETB) to designated staff and integrate the register of training carried out and trainees certified within the program database;
Carry out information actions on health, safety and the environment and raise staff awareness of epidemic, infectious diseases, etc. ;
Ensure in connection with the support service (logistics and purchasing) of the availability of operational medical equipment and training as well as the supply, orders and shipments of materials in the field offices.
Education / Experience / Language requirements
Education
Master's or Master's degree in the field of medicine or public health combined with two (2) years of relevant experience.
License in the field of medicine or public health combined with four (4) years of relevant experience.
State nurse diploma combined with six (6) years of relevant experience.
Professional experience
Relevant experience is defined as that in the medical field or a similar field;
Proficiency in basic computer tools is required
Save
French read, written and spoken fluently is required;
Written and spoken English is desired.
