With immediate effect, our Public Health department is looking for:
Health advisor
Based in Amsterdam (40% of time spent in the projects)
Note that we have two openings, to start asap: one for 40h a week and one for up to 36h a week
Place in the organisation
The health advisor reports to the coordinator of health advisors. He/she is the technical supervisor for the medical coordinators.
Objectives for the position
You provide medical and public health leadership for the project countries in your portfolio.
Main characteristics
You have are a licensed medical or paramedical professional
You have at least 3 years field experience with a medical-humanitarian organization (in the case of MSF preferably in a medical coordinator role)
Your medical and public health experience is very broad (a MPH or comparable degree would be an asset)
You have experience working in a leadership position in public health
You have experience drafting and implementing health programmes and policies
You can safeguard the quality of care through monitoring, evaluation, training and mentoring
You initiate and support research projects in case a need arises
You are able to advise the country management team on project management related tasks
You make sure the country management team follows the organisational vision and strategic plan
You pro-actively address bottlenecks that pop-up in the mission and focus on a solution; this involves trouble shooting on the short term but you also have a forward looking view
You are flexible and available outside office hours according to the ‘on-call protocol’
You assist in training and selection of the professional group of medical coordinators
You coordinate on technical advise coming from PH specialists
You are able to provide emergency support to field programmes for up to six weeks per year at short notice (ie 48hrs);
Fluency in English (French, Arabic, or Spanish is an advantage)

What we offer
A gross salary in scale 8 of min. € 3775 and maximum € 5388 a month (in case of a 40h work week). Scaling will be done based on your relevant work experience. Premium free pension and 30 holidays per year (in case of a 40h work week).
