Position Summary
The EMS Training Officer works collaboratively to implement and oversee the continuing education program for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System on the U.S. bases in Kuwait.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
1.Implements and coordinates continuing education programs to include re-certification, specialized training, local host training, and outreach within the community
2.Provides and coordinates training for all EMS employees to include assisting with recertification
3.Participates in the orientation of new employees and conducts skills assessment and verification
4.Helps organize and participates in EMS and Fire Training Exercises and Drills
5.Provides support to and participates in military drills, and events as directed by the command.
6.Responsible for maintenance of training records, certifications and re-certifications for all employees.
7.Works collaboratively to identify EMS training needs, trouble shoots problems and works to develops appropriate interventions through CQI.
8.Continuously reviews training and development publications and materials to keep abreast of new and innovative techniques and training programs.
9.Serves as back up during staff shortages in both the paramedic and paramedic lead roles, and in either role responds to emergency medical calls and performs necessary rescue work.
10.Attends and participates in EMS management team meetings
11.Maintains training equipment in clean, safe and functional status through weekly checks and decontamination procedures
12.Personally monitors every instructor at least once a year for each discipline in which the monitoring instructor holds instructor certification. Feedback to be reported to Training Center.
13.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:Associates Degree required and Bachelor’s preferred.
Experience:
The selected candidate must have a minimum of five years of field experience as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic. Of this, at least three years of training experience is required. Must also have experience in MS Office applications. The candidate must maintain a professional and customer-focused demeanor at all times. The candidate must understand medical terminology and be computer literate.
The selected candidate must have instructor certification in American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS with a minimum of one-year experience in all disciplines. Requires current registration as EMT-P/Paramedic with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Must have a current healthcare provider CPR certification and ACLS certification.
National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) instructor status in PHTLS, AMLS and EPC preferred.
