About the business
ProMedical is a non-government organisation incorporated locally as a charitable association. The Vanuatu Emergency Services Association VESA operates the paramedical service "ProMedical" which provides 24-hour international standard paramedical ambulance services on the islands of Efaté and Espiritu Santo.
ProMedical also has a dedicated volunteer rescue team - ProResuce which is modelled off Australian SES who provide road accident rescue as well as assistance at complex & multi-casualty cases.
ProMedical currently receives no direct funding from the Vanuatu government or any aid agencies
thus, relies on funding via sponsorship from local businesses and through subscriptions from Ni-Vanuatu, expatriate residents and businesses within the local community. We now have around three Ni-Vanuatu subscribers for every foreign resident member. This means that we are one of the few charities that can genuinely claim to serve the whole community.
The Efate Station based in Port Vila began in 2004 and the Santo Station based in Luganville started in 2014.
About the role
The position of Team Manager/Clinical Educator - Efate encompasses the following major functions or Key Result Areas (KRAs):
Operational Management
People Management
Financial Management
Operational Management'
Managing the day to day operations of the Efate Station including; rosters, fleet management, equipment purchases and ordering of stock and supplies etc
Ensuring the Station and its staff contribute to the goals and targets set out in the Efate Station Strategic Plan
Ensuring the VESA First Aid Courses are done to an agreed standard in co-operation with training Institute including the provision of staff resources to conduct training
Attending the Monthly ProMedical Efate Committee meeting and presenting the Team Manager Report
Development of additional policies and procedures as appropriate to ensure the Station runs efficiently and effectively
Ensuring that the Efate Station and its staff meet all statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations as required
People Management
Working a 4 on 4 off roster, providing clinical care in the role of Ambulance Paramedic
Providing leadership, guidance, mentoring and capacity building for all staff.
Ensuring all staff are progressing through their Diploma in Paramedicine
Financial Management
The overall management and accountability of the Efate Station Budget
Working with the ProMedical Efate Committee Treasurer to prepare the Efate Station Annual Budget for submission to VESA
In partnership with the National Operations Manager seek additional local sponsors and workplace subscribers
Participate in and provide support to all local ProMedical fundraising initiatives
Ensuring all Station staff adhere to the agreed standards of care
Completing Annual Performance Reviews for all staff including salary review
Seek opportunities to increase awareness and knowledge of ProMedical and its services within the Efate Community
Recruitment of staff as appropriate
Skills and experience
Qualifications - Essential:
ALS or intensive Care Qualification
Qualifications - Desirable:
Experience as a team manager
Experience in academic training or para-medicine
Experience - Essential:
5+ years as a qualified paramedic with evidence of a high standard of clinical skills
Experience building strong harmonious teams
Ability to manage a budget
Excellent report writing skills
Fluent in the English language, both written and oral
Able to pass police clearances
Must have the ability to reside full-time in Vanuatu
Current drivers' licence and ability to drive a manual
Experience - Desirable:
Experience as a Team/Station Manager
Clinical Education experience and mentoring of students
Fluent in Bislama and French language
Experience working in the Pacific Islands
