Overview
Walsh is currently seeking a Safety Medic for our Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor project in Los Angles, CA.
A Walsh Shea Corridor Constructors project safety EMT will assume the role as patient provider and advocate for all employees on the project. Will live up to this responsibility by providing quality first aid and BLS care when needed and necessary. Will always remember that when treating an illness or an injury the Safety Medic is a care provider first, and a case manager second. Will protect the patient and his privacy. Investigations and/or interviews will come after treatment. Project employees will be protected by the safety medic’s proactive actions. These actions can include; quantitative fitness testing(respirator and otherwise), substance abuse testing, familiarity with local medical providers, familiarity with job sites, having an understanding of various job functions at any given site, and actively assuring that the job site is a safe working environment. Walsh Shea will be protected by your proactive and reactive actions. These actions include; health and wellness assessments, first aid, CPR, & AED training, providing quality first response medical treatment, keeping accurate, detailed logs, becoming a single point of contact for providers and Walsh Shea RISK staff, assuring that the care provided is appropriate for the injury/illness, and that a rapport is established and maintained with local care providers.

Responsibilities
Injury Treatment – basic first aid and CPR
Case Management – follow up with injured workers, attend doctor’s appointments with employees, work with insurance carrier to manage claims.
Clinic Set Up – setup initial clinic, build relations with medical provider, and recommend changing facilities when needed.
Drug Testing
CPR/First Aid/AED Training
AED’s compliance
First Aid Cabinets/Kits compliance
Injury and Illness prevention plan – educate workforce and communicate the expectation during field walks.
Weekly Safety Huddles and meeting for project site staff
Weekly Site inspections
Familiarization with Cal OSHA Rules and Regulations
Safety Training as required (Osha 30 hour training, trench excavation training, crane awareness training, etc.)
Qualifications
Current EMT license/certificate and Certified First Responder skills, with CPR, First Aid, AED Instructor Certification.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders. Stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours.
