Objective:
To ensure the work of the Weapon Contamination (WeC) department is managed efficiently and effectively in line with an established guidelines. You will need to be an enthusiastic, flexible, committed, and a resourceful colleague who can support the Manager to lead the team. The successful candidate will need to deliver to a high standard, be resilient and have a positive “can do” attitude.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will undertake the following responsibilities under the direct supervision of the ICRC WeC Delegate in Baghdad. He/she will be member of the Multi Task Team (MTT) and be able to define and formulate the action and operational strategy of ICRC WeC program in Iraq by:
Providing advanced life support to casualties, supervise training and administer basic health care within the team
Ensuring that the assigned medical equipment is complete and serviceable as described in the medical standard operating procedure (SOP) and the onsite requirements SOP;
Remaining alert and available at all times to provide medical support during SurveyBattle Area Clearance (BAC) and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) activities;
Administering basic health care; ensure that the safety vehicle is available,
Capable of evacuating a lying casualty and ready to be used as an ambulance;
Maintain at all times a high level of collective hygiene at the work site, within the ambulance and the camp compound and inspect the validity of medicine, drugs and equipment in a daily basis. Inspect the validity of medicine, drugs and equipment in a daily basis
Perform MEDEVAC exercise on command by the Team Leader
Required Qualifications and Experience:
University degree in Medicine or Professional Diploma in Nursing OR First Aid OR Advanced Life Saving International Committee of the Red Cross
3 - 5 years work experience in a similar field of which at least 1-3 years of relevant position experience with Mine Action organization or in the military as a paramedic
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
Very good computer skills
Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
Good analytical skills
Team leadership skills
