Safety & Training Officer/ Paramedic

The Safety & Training Officer / Paramedic is an integrated part of the CuDeco team and will assist in the continued development of the mine safety and health management system. You will provide support to the site to assist in achieving and maintaining the requirements of site, departmental and individual safety and training requirements. You will also be required to manage accidents and injuries on site, until handed over to a medically trained professional.

You will be required to:
Maintain a sound understanding of relevant legislative and corporate requirements, including site Safety Standards, as they apply to the role.
Actively support the development and maintenance of the site Safety Health Management System.
Conduct and maintain a Training Needs Analysis; and maintain relevant departmental and individual Training Plans based on legislative and business requirements.
Deliver Safety Training as required.
Champion and Coordinate the Site Mines Rescue and coordinate all Mines Rescue training activities.
Verify that all safety and training records are maintained and quality of records is consistent with requirements of site standards.
Participate in review, evaluation and audit safety processes as required
Routinely review relevant Action Plans and verify appropriate corrective and preventive actions are planned and followed through to completion.
Actively promote the site safety and training procedures and processes at all times, including intervention when a breach is occurring.
Provide advice to departments on Safety regulations, breaches and initiatives,
Deliver Safety and Training requirements within the site budget.
Manage the return to work coordination;
Assist with incident investigations;
Maintain personal core skills to meet the expectations of the Paramedic role;
Maintain first aid kits across the site;
Provide rehabilitation of injured employees in accordance with the CuDeco injury management procedure;
Maintain currency as a RTWC with Workcover QLD;

Knowledge, Training & Experience Required eg. qualifications or experience:
OH&S experience is essential;
Paramedic experience is essential;
Certificate IV TAE or TAA Qualification;
QMS 1,2,3
At least 3 years experience in a similar role;
Able to support the development and implementation of safety and health management systems,
A thorough understanding of risk management and how it applies to safety and health,
Well developed analytical skills,
Competent user of MSWord, excel and power point,
Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Training, and Safety & Health
A good understanding of the Queensland mining legislation, and how to apply it to safety training and risk management.
