Location: Tanzania & Nicaragua
Use your medical skills this year to inspire positive change in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity. We are
looking for qualified and passionate doctors, nurses and paramedics to
join our teams as Medics in Tanzania and Nicaragua this autumn. You will
be supporting our Raleigh International Citizen Service (ICS)
programme. ICS is a UK government funded programme, which is designed to
bring young people together to create long lasting change, and fight
poverty in overseas and UK communities. Our Raleigh ICS programme is
designed to empower youth and communities to work together to improve
access to safe water and sanitation on our WASH (Water, Sanitation and
Hygiene) placements, and increase economic development in rural
communities on our entrepreneur placements.
As an
ICS Medic you’ll be based at Raleigh’s country headquarters and you’ll
have the chance to use your clinical skills in an autonomous
environment. You will be responsible for looking after the general
health of all the volunteers on programme, and supporting operational
decisions relating to any emergencies that may occur.
To apply for this role you must have at least two years post
qualification experience and medical skills that are transferable to
remote static environments. You must also have effective communication
skills and the ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary
team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop a
career in expedition medicine.
We need ICS medics in Nicaragua from 11th September – 20th December 2015 and in Tanzania from 12th September – 22nd December 2015.
All expenses for this role are covered and generous bursaries are available.
If you want to use your medical skills in a dramatically different
setting and help create a sustainable future, then what are you waiting
for?
