Summary:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) to support treatment in a clinical setting such as an Acute Care Clinic or an Urgent Care Clinic, ambulance emergency response, in-flight emergency response, non-in-flight emergency response, transfer and transport services for active duty military personnel, their dependents, retirees, their dependents and other eligible beneficiaries, in accordance with the terms
and conditions of this agreement. The EMT-B will be required to assist with patient care within the facility when not performing emergency response or transport services. EMT-B shall cover the range of services provided in a civilian medical treatment facility.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
Graduate from an accredited EMT-Basic certification program.
Have a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience within the last three (3) years as an ambulance crew member.
Must be Ambulance Driver Certified.
A current, valid certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT); current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is preferred, but not required.

When responding outside the MTF, HCW will know, utilize, and work under the Air Force Pre-Hospital ACLS/BLS Protocols.
HCW is requited to obtain a government driver’s license and flight line authorization badge.
HCW will attend monthly staff meetings.

The EMT-B will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and disposing of medical documentation as required.

Performs a full range of clinical support and ambulance services on site at the MTF and in the field when performing ambulance emergency or in-flight response, transfer, or transport services. The EMT-B’s actual clinical activity will be a function of the NCIOC or shift-leader and the overall demand for services when assisting providers in the treatment of patients in the MTF and/or while responding to emergency calls in an ambulance. The EMT-B will practice within the guidelines set by the NCOIC, Nurse Manager and the Medical Director. Provides emergency hospital and pre-hospital care for all types of patients (all ages).

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients of all ages. Workload includes the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients ranging from infants to elderly. Recognizes medical emergencies and responds appropriately. Initiates CPR if required. Assists emergency personnel in administering advanced cardiac life support measures when necessary.

Responsible for and assists with orientation and training of newly assigned and inexperienced personnel.

Participates in in-services and continuing education programs.

Establishes and maintains good interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other health team members.

Knowledge of current hospital and pre-hospital protocols in order to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of patients in hospital and pre-hospital settings. The EMT-B will be required to assist with patient care within the ED when not performing emergency response or transport services.

Knowledge and skill in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and advanced life saving measured used to initiate resuscitation measures when necessary and assist unit in providing support measure.
