PSS/Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate (EMT-I) - Iraq (ESF1)

Overview:
**Must have an active EMT - I (Intermediate) or above certification*

**Must have an active CPR/AED certification**

Responsibilities:
  • Medic support to principal and PRS detail members.
  • The EMT-I is designated as a protective security specialist (P). The EMT-I is required to attend and pass the Basic PSS training course, as outlined in this contract. The EMT-I is required to maintain weapons qualification, as outlined in this contract, with the Glock, M4, Shotgun, M240, M249 and M203 and familiarization fire for the AK47. The EMT-I vetted personnel are authorized to permanently fill the Labor Categories of EMT-I and the PSS in case of shortages with the approval of HTP
  • Conduct protective security operations and provide medic support as required.
Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of experience:
    1. One (1) year of the three, shall include experience in protective security assignments. 
    2. Experience can be gained in the employ of any national, State/Provincial, Local or commercial entities providing high threat protective services that require skills similar to those of this contract:
  • U.S. Citizen, as specified by the Task Order
  • Level 3 English proficiency.
  • Trained and certified to current, U.S. - recognized standards.
  • Experience working as an EMT, with a majority of the experience being within an emergency room and/or in direct support of military operations. Have experience/knowledge in current TCCC guidelines.
  • The EMT-I shall successfully complete the PSS training requirements CONUS and shall receive extensive ON JOB TRAINING (OJT).
  • Must have valid, current U.S. driver’s license and U.S. tourist passport.
  • Must have a personal and, if appropriate, military discharge under honorable conditions.
  • Must be able to pass an in-depth medical screening in order to meet the requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be familiar with first aid procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Personnel Security clearance.
  • Meet minimum firearms proficiency pre-requisites, including formal training on: Familiarity with weapons safety concerns and procedures.
  • Must be able to pass an in-depth background check. 
Physical and Mental requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to regularly walk, run, bend, and crawl, while wearing full protective gear.
  • Possess binocular vision, correctable to 20/30 (Snellen) and shall not be color blind.
  • Be capable of hearing ordinary conversation.
  • Be capable of satisfying the physical efficiency battery scores used by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). These standards can be found on the internet at www.fletc.gov/training/programs/physical-techniques-division/requirements/ documents/physical-efficiency-battery/peb.html.  Seventy (70%) is the minimum passing standard in each category.
  • Capacity to think, concentrate and focus over long periods of time
  • Capacity to reason and make sound decisions
  • Ability to read complex documents in English language
  • Ability to write complex documents in the English language
  • Capacity to express thoughts orally (e.g., accurately, quick and loudly convey spoken instructions to workers)
