Offshore Medic

A vacancy has arisen for a Medic to work offshore supporting the Heather asset.
The Medic will provide onsite first aid, primary care and emergency healthcare provision for all offshore personnel. Perform in the role of medic in accordance with the duty holder emergency response procedures and Medic Standing Orders, exercising professional accountability in all areas of practice. Actively promote
and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of all platform personnel ensuring the appropriate management of health and wellbeing in the workplace. Practice in a collaborative and co-operative manner to advise and support platform personnel in order to increase health and safety awareness and protect and promote health.

Role and Responsibilities:
Healthcare provision
-provide onsite first aid, primary care and emergency healthcare provision for all offshore personnel
-co-ordinate and administrate medical evacuation to onshore, in liaison with the Topside medical provider following duty holder medevac procedure
-maintain the first aid provision through delivery of regular training for the first aiders and stretcher teams in-line with the annual first aid training plan and emergency response procedures
-administer and provide medication as dictated in the MSO’s, statutory guidelines and Topside medical provider
-ensure that sickbay facilities and medical stock control & ordering are maintained efficiently and adhering to MSO’s and duty holder policies
-maintain medical confidentiality and medical documentation (including medical log and health records) in accordance with Data Protection Act 1998

Health improvement & protection
-plan and implement health promotion activities including awareness raising of health & hygiene topics on a regular basis, maintaining the ‘Healthy Working Lives’ award programme
-provide information and advice on occupational health and hygiene matters, and carry out inspections and assessments as required
-implement and adhere to company and local procedures for management of infectious diseases

Safety
-actively promote and assist with the implementation of company HSE procedures and practices
-act as platform Radiation Protection Supervisor ensuring all records are maintained and accurate. comply with current guidance and legislation in respect to the disposal off LSA material
-provide guidance, support, and carryout assessments on COSHH, HAVS, manual handling, DSE and other identified workplace hazards
-participate in health & hygiene audits in accordance with industry guidelines

Competency
-ensure all mandatory training and job specific training and competencies are maintained current
-participate in clinical governance processes including: clinical audits, appraisal, CPP completion, onshore occupational health teleconferences and Mednet

Skills and Requirements:
Essential:
-Registered Nurse (Adult) or RMN with other nursing qualification (RGN or EN)
-NMC current registration, 3 years post registration experience

Or
-HM Forces medic/ medical assistant (CMT1, LMA1, RMA1) with 5 years medical service experience
-Current valid HSE Offshore Medic Certificate

Desirable:
-Radiation Protection for Supervisors
-Administration of Thrombolysis
-Offshore First Aid
-COSHH Assessor
