The Air Medical Communication Specialist (AMCS) under general supervision of the
Air Medical Communications Supervisor will receive and coordinate emergency and
non-emergency requests for patient transport via air transport or ground ambulance.
The (AMCS) will routinely interact with Hospital personnel, Physicians, Hospital
Administrators, Flight Paramedics & Nurses, Pilots, and other key personnel by
performing the following duties.
1- Provides patient and mission specific information to Air Medical units and flight staff personnel.
2- Triage's medical conditions by phone/fax and organizes appropriate resources.
3- Assists customers by analyzing, evaluating, and determining appropriate emergency medical pre-arrival instructions as defined by the Medical Director.
4- Operates a variety communication and computer-based equipment used in taking medical mission requests.
5- Maintains necessary documentation and records.
6- Relays operational information to Air Medical supervisory staff.
7- Maintains a strong safety focus and follows safety standards and practices.
8- Attends meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay current in the knowledge and skill competencies as required by the department.

Equipment and Technical Experience:
1- Working knowledge of alpha / numerical paging systems
2 -Web based programs
3 -Advanced phone system operations
4- Radio systems and radio protocol experience required
5- Essential Technical/Motor Skills:
6- Knowledge of office machines
7-Computer and CAD expertise
Proficient in Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, e-mail, and the ability to use specialized software programs including sophisticated radio console operations
Qualifications/Education:
1- Two year degree in related field preferred; HS Diploma or GED required
Preferred 1-3 years prior experience in the health care environment
