Offshore Medic/HSE Advisor

Job Description
Basic Purpose of the Role
To maintain a state of medical emergency preparedness at all times and to provide offshore first-aid care and additional treatment (in accordance with the provisions of approved medic standing orders or on the direction of a suitable registered medical practitioner approved by TAQA), to persons who present with an injury or illness whilst on site. Immediate skilled treatment may be required to treat acute medical and surgical conditions and this includes the ability to conduct appropriate resuscitation and stabilise and prepare a casualty for medevac.
To provide leadership, advice, guidance and assistance to the OIM, Supervision, Safety representatives and workforce to ensure legislation and company HS&E policies are implemented and complied with.
To work with the platform management team to monitor, review and improve the platforms HSE performance, to raise standards on operations safety and create a culture where harm to people or the environment is not tolerated.

Key Responsibilities
To abide by the code of conduct and principles of medical confidentiality in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) guidance on best practice for nursing staff (this applies for all medics regardless of whether they are in fact NMC registered).
To support the OIM and provide leadership to the platform management team to ensure a robust HSE management to include, Emergency Response Management, Operational and Process Safety improvement, Focal point for the management, assessment, control and monitoring of health risks, verification through audit and inspection and promotion of HSE initiatives.

Desired Skills & Experience
Qualifications/ Training Required
Essential:
Medics from a nurse background should have a minimum of 4 years post qualification experience including a minimum of 18 months spent in A&E or equivalent acute and primary care experience.
Current in-date HSE approved “offshore medic” qualification including thrombolysis training essential.
Food Hygiene Qualification desirable.
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) desirable.
NEBOSH Certificate essential.
RPS desirable, but training will be given
Competent Noise Assessor, but training will be given
COSHH Assessor, but training will be given
P405 Asbestos, but training will be given
BOSIET
Valid medical certificate of fitness for offshore work as a medic

Experience / Knowledge Required
Essential:
Knowledge of HSE legislation that applies to the offshore industry

Preferred:
Experience in a remote medical environment and/or as an offshore medic
Experience as platform HSE advisor
Training in incident investigation techniques
Training in risk assessment
Auditor
