Qualifications:

It is a dual role which will require an Offshore Medic to provide medical attention where necessary.

Required Education/Experience:

Working Conditions:
Work is based in a busy training environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 to 5:00, however, extended or weekend hours may be required. Position also requires work in an office and classroom setting. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. Travel to high threat/high-risk areas may also be required.

Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The International Porter Protection Group urgently require a volunteer doctor, ideally experienced in altitude and remote environment medicine, to work at their rescue post at Machermo, at 4400 m in the Gokyo Valley of Nepal during the Spring season, March to April, 2012.
This has arisen following the late withdrawal of a volunteer. This post offers the rare opportunity to live and work for up to 2 months in a Sherpa community providing emergency care to locals, porters and trekkers as part of team of 2 other Western doctors and local staff. Job Description:
The Medical Services Officer performs a variety of administrative, patient care, and department head functions pertaining to the complete operation of a shipboard medical department. This includes, but is not limited to, medical care at the level equivalent to an independent duty hospital corpsman, fiscal and supply, crew training, pest control, sanitation, occupational health and preventive medicine, SAMS database entries and maintaining certification of eligibility. Ensure continuing application of & compliance w/ EEO laws, regulations and policies.

Must be a United States Citizen of at least 18 years of age
and possess and maintain a valid:
1. U. S. Passport with a minimum of 7 months remaining of
expiration date,
2. United States Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner’s
Document (MMD), or Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC),
with a minimum of 10 months remaining of expiration
date with the following endorsement: Physician
