The ALS Paramedic is posted on-site primarily to serve as a provider of pre-hospital emergency care and to support in delivering emergency care to the projects’ employees. The employee assists the Health, Safety and Environment management of the sites to perform their duties in the field of Health.To perform the function of a Site ALS Paramedic as described in the project contract
To meet the requirements of Intl.SOS Client by delivering responsibilities of the position in a professional, efficient and effective manner
To provide the best emergency care in line with International Standards and Country Clinical Care Guidelines

Emergency Care
Job Location: Malawi

To provide the best emergency care in line with International Standards and Country Clinical Care Guidelines
Key responsibilities
Emergency Care
Ensure emergency response on the project inside the camp perimeter as per the client’s request on a 24/7 basis.
Ensure to be contactable and on standby by radio and/or telephone on a 24/7 basis.
Assessment and immediate treatment of urgent illness or injury.
Liaison with the site client’s medical team Emergency physician for emergency support and resources as and when required.
Ensuring that all cases managed in the facility are managed according to the best medical practices.
This travel may also include travel from site to nearest approved medical support facilities, as described on the MTP, or hand-over to next medical evacuation team as directed by the client and recommended by the Response Center.
Ensuring accuracy of information is recorded.
He/she will notify their Intl.SOS management team immediately of any problems which may jeopardize site relationships or evoke client complaint.
Keeping patient confidentiality.
Physical assessment and first aid treatment of a patient with an Injury on Duty in liaison and guidance with the site client’s medical team and in line with the medical practices.
Ensure to be aware on a daily basis of all high-risk activities occurring inside the mining perimeter through the Client H&S department.
Clinical Services

Ensure that Universal Precautions are enforced and followed at all times.
Promote and ensure a Continuous Quality Improvement environment & program is maintained

Be able to work any shift according to roster and requirements, on a reasonable manner, having in mind that this is a single position on site.
Develop and maintain highest possible standards of clinical practice within Medical Services
Ensure that Universal Precautions are enforced and followed at all times.
Promote and ensure a Continuous Quality Improvement environment & program is maintained
Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities
Encourage positive attitudes towards OH&S.
Ensure the hazard identification & risk management process is utilized effectively to manage OH&S risks.
Apply OH&S policy and procedures to ensure compliance with Intl.SOS and regulatory requirements for OH&S at all times.
Actively participate in OH&S inspections and audits including corrective actions, if required
Ensure all hazards and incidents are reported and investigated appropriately and suitable controls are implemented.
Contribute to and with information, instruction, training and supervision that workers needed to work safely.
Ensure all plant and equipment is properly maintained.
Maintain relevant knowledge of OH&S issues.
Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours.
Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace.
Undertake all mandatory OH&S training as required.
Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies, procedures or safe work practices given by Intl.SOS in adhering to safe work procedures.
Co-operate with management in its fulfilment of its legislative obligations.
Take reasonable care to ensure own health and safety and the safety of others.
To report any injury, hazard or illness as soon as possible.

Required work experience:

About you
Required work experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in EMS services and preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
5 years minimum of experience as a remote site medic
Diploma in Emergency Medical Care (EMC) or Critical Care Assistant (Advanced Life Support Paramedic)
Advanced Life Support, ACLS, and ITLS accredited
Knowledge of the OHSA
Astute pre-hospital emergency medical expertise with leadership skills
Extensive knowledge in remote medicine
Basic level of literacy in MS Excel
Knowledge of international medical scientific evidence-based standards
Good business writing skills, especially in report writing.
