Program Mozambique
Our program strengthens the health system and improves health outcomes in Cabo Delgado Province. The current projects address paediatric emergency care, cholera, cervical cancer, adolescent health (incl. HIV) and emergency relief. SolidarMed is a respected partner of the Ministry of Health. Innovation, research and policy dialogue are cross-cutting through all projects. The medical director operates under the oversight of the country director.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Medical and public health oversight and contribution to strategic development.
Mentoring and capacity building to project teams and implementing partners.
Ensure project objectives and deliverables are met in a timely manner.
Project cycle management, proposal development, reporting, review of annual operation plans.
Ensure projects are designed according to scientific evidence. Lead the formulation of innovative approaches for new projects and scale-up opportunities.
Contribute to knowledge management and research, in collaboration with our research unit.
Support in-country, regional and sometimes international fundraising.
Represent SolidarMed Mozambique at local and national level, in networks and technical workgroups
Collaborate with local stakeholders and implementing partners, especially the Ministry of Health and implementing partners, to ensure that all activities conform with the requirements and regulations.
Directly manage a team of 4 to 5 project managers including HR management, conducting performance reviews, managing recruitment and onboarding.

Your profile
General or specialist Medical Doctor with min. 5 years clinical experience (MPH, DTMH or similar is an asset)
Public health experience in Eastern or Southern Africa. Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation, and monitoring of health programmes.
Sound management and leadership experience (projects, people, budgets)
Good written and oral communication skills in Portuguese (or proficiency in French, Spanish or Italian and readiness/ability to learn Portuguese) and English.
Ability to pragmatically solve problems. Conceptual, strategic and forward-thinking.
Interest in evidence generation, evidence application, research, innovation, networking.
High interpersonal & cross-cultural skills. Sensitivity to cultural and social issues. Collaborative, team-oriented working style
Valid driving license
