INTRODUCTION
The International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) is the training arm of the ILO, the Specialized Agency of the United Nations, which promotes social justice and human rights in the world of work. The ITCILO delivers training, learning and capacity development services to governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, and other national and international partners, in support of decent work and sustainable development. Its mission is to provide people with access to digitally-enhanced capacity development services to successfully manage their future of work transitions. The Centre leverages global alliances and partnerships to deliver hundreds of training activities each year, covering topics like employment promotion, international labour standards, social protection, social dialogue, innovation, gender equality and diversity, sustainable development, and the future of work. The training centre offer academies, on-line, face-to-face and blended courses.

The nurse is assigned to the Medical Service, reporting to the Human Resources Services Senior Officer, with a functional/technical reporting line to the Medical Advisor. S/he is principally accountable for the running of the walk-in clinic and in assisting the Medical Advisor and Resident Doctors in coordinating occupational health services for staff.

The Medical Service has a mandate to provide occupational health services to the staff of ITCILO, as well as to staff of other UN Campus resident agencies UNSSC and UNICRI (as foreseen by applicable agreement between the Centre and any of these other UN system bodies). The Medical Service also assists Centre’s activities participants and other guests, upon need, during their permanence on campus.

The nurse is expected to work 37.5 hours weekly. This includes the opening hours of the walk-in clinic established by the Medical Advisor and the Chief, Human Resource Services.

Medical confidentiality is essential to the functioning of the Medical Service. The nurse will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement as part of their contract to work.
Functional responsibilitiesResponds to emergency calls and assists the Medical Advisor and Resident Physician/s in providing adequate care; ensures effective liaison between patient and private doctor, paramedics, family members, and colleagues as appropriate; documents case findings.
Performs diagnostic and screening tests such as: ECG, x-rays, laboratory, and any other test as required.
Performs clinical assessment of patients visiting the walk-in clinic; provides care/advice accordingly or facilitates referral to the UN Medical Advisor and Resident Physician/s and or to an outside physician, as appropriate.
Ensures preparedness of staff travelling on missions or assignments/reassignment, including administration of appropriate vaccine, instructions on prophylaxis and other travel-related ailments.
Instructs on the content and potential uses of the travel kit.
Assists in providing health education and health promotion programs; participates in work environment assessment, e.g. office ergonomics, and addresses other occupational health issues.
Maintains records of patient consultations, ensuring adequate management of medical records, including filing of insurance claims for Campus participants.
Monitors inventory levels for clinic supplies and medications, ensuring timely restocking
Performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications required
Education

Completion of secondary education. Nursing degree or diploma (preferably “D” category) with national registration in Italy, the EU, or equivalent academic and clinical standard.
Experience

At least seven years of post-registration experience as a nurse, with a variety of different nursing fields. Experience in primary care, occupational health and safety, and emergency care would be an advantage. Experience in a United Nations or similar medical clinic would be an advantage.

Languages
Excellent written and spoken knowledge of either English, or French with a good working knowledge of the other language.
Knowledge of Italian is also required.
Knowledge of Spanish an advantage.

Technical competencies

Knowledge of clinical, occupational and travel nursing. Formal training in CPR and, preferably, in BCLS and ACLS or equivalent emergency medical care. Knowledge of major medical office equipment and ability to use them in emergency situations. Knowledge of basic diagnostic equipment and ability to use them. Knowledge of modern medical information technology and solid computer skill. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The selected candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract of two years which may be renewed, subject to a period of probation as established by the Staff Regulations.

General Service Category, grade G.5, Fixed Term, Regular Budget

The salary range of this grade at the time of publication of this vacancy notice is the following:

Euros 43,314 p.a. (minimum) to Euros 70,884 p.a. (maximum).
