Team Medic, Gulf of Guinea
6 months Fixed Term Contract – Subject to Funding
The salary for this position is £34,468 GBP per annum / approx. $43,801 USD including all allowances
About the role:
The Team Medic is responsible for providing medical and emergency support for munitions destruction activities under the supervision of a Technical Field Manager. They will work in accordance with the exercises and procedures taught during the basic medical course and described organization’s Standard Operational Procedures, as well as with national technical standards and guidelines and international mine action standards.
About you:
You must have a state diploma as a Doctor of Medicine or as a nurse, along with advanced training and qualifications in resuscitation and trauma care. You should have recent professional experience in the medical field outside of a hospital or clinic environment, in pre-hospital treatment of accident victims, and of first aid in remote locations. You will have experience working in a developing country, of delivering training, in planning healthcare and hygiene, and in report writing. You will possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize activities, as well as a problem-solving approach that allows for system improvements. You must also have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
Fluency in French and English is required.
About the Gulf of Guinea programme:
Since 2020, the projects aim to enhance regional security by reducing at-risk, illicitly proliferated, or indiscriminately used of arms. In collaborating with ECOWAS Commission, this is achieved by strengthening the organisational and operational capacities of National Commission on SALW and national security sector institutions in the safe Management and Destruction of Weapons and Ammunition in those coastal countries like Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo.
