Chief Medical Officer - Iraq

International SOS has an excellent position for a medical doctor (holding a tertiary degree in Emergency Medicine) to join their International SOS medical team located at the Basra clinic in Iraq.

Projected Start date - 8th February 2024 (subject to application of work permit)
Rotation - 6 weeks on duty followed by 6 weeks off duty

An excellent day rate in USdollars is offered and applies to on duty days only.

Economy flights, accommodation coupled with all the necessary remote site insurances are provided.

Overall Purpose of the Job

The position is for a Chief Medical Officer, who will be responsible for the overall medical management and clinical oversight of all medical staff based at the International SOS Clinic In Basra. This facility provides primary and emergency health care services through the development of a quality focused general practice environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for the provision of primary health services and emergency response management at the medical facility.
Provide clinic leadership to the medical team
Assist the Basra International SOS Clinic Manager in the maintenance, selection and control of the medical equipment and supplies available in the clinic.
Directly responsible to review and respond to any medical complaints which arise using the International SOS procedure guidelines.
To attend required meeting with the HSE department and attend all meetings to which invited by the client on an ad-hoc basis.
To support the Clinic Manager in submitting all required reports.
To ensure mandatory weekly Emergency Response Drills are conducted at the facility and that compliance reports are submitted thereafter.
To educate non-medical staff in medical matters where relevant.

Criteria to Apply:

Must be fully registered to practice medicine in country of origin/residence
Medical Doctor with 5 years plus post-grad experience gained within an Accident & Emergency setting
Emergency Medicine tertiary qualification is mandatory
Experience with general practice management and administration a plus
Hold a valid ACLS (AHA) (or be prepared to obtain)
Hold a valid ITLS or PHTLS or ATLS (or be prepared to obtain)
Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written)
Must be COVID vaccinated.
