General description
Person providing medical services in accordance with good medical practice and applicable rules and regulations.
Responsibility
The Doctor is responsible for maintaining an appropriate stock of medicines and nursing articles in accordance with applicable regulations of the client. Check and arrange for supply of medical equipment and medicines for the hospital as well as first aid lockers, eyewash stations, Uvex cleaning stations, ear plug stations, portable defibrillators
Make and participate in hygiene inspections on board. The inspections shall include all areas on the rig, however particular interest to be paid towards all rooms where food is prepared and stored, rooms for washing and storing of linen and clothing, hospital, sanitary rooms, cabins and recreation rooms
In co-operation with OIM arrange safe transportation of injured and sick personnel to a hospital when necessary
Assist with investigation of injury cases involving personnel, and with preventive safety work to avoid injuries
Train personnel in first aid, in particular the First Aid Team, and arrange drills in co-operation with Safety Officer and maritime crew
Organisation of the preventive health work on board the rig, and supervision of the physical and mental health of the personnel working on board
Keep the personnel informed regarding the period of validity of their health certificates
Assist with control of protection equipment for the personnel, and in giving information regarding substances that may be a health hazard, and regarding hygiene and health questions
Take samples of the potable water and forward these to approved laboratories onshore for testing in accordance with a set schedule.
Supervision of the medical emergency preparedness in respect of accidents
Registration of all chemicals (products and substances that may create a health hazard) on board.
Make provision for staying professionally updated and being well acquainted with the legislation and regulations in force within the assigned area of responsibility.
Authority
Where responsibility is allocated the matching authority is also granted, unless otherwise stated. Stop any operation when deemed unsafe to continue. Documentation and record responsibilities
In liaison with Assistant BE and BE record chemicals; products and substances that may create a health hazard, on board and arrange for a proper filing of the hard copies of MSDS’s for such products and substances.
In accordance with the instructions in the client’s management system, prepare and forward reports for the assigned area of responsibility e.g. accident reports, drug accounts, hygiene reports, working environment records, etc.
All consultations and dispensing of medicines to be recorded in a Medical Logbook. These records and other personal information are to be filed in a proper and confidential manner

Qualification requirements
Registered physician licence to practice in Colombia
Knowledge and understanding of the role as occupational health worker
Administrative skills
Computer literate
Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate at all levels
Good spoken and written English
Safety Training Courses and Medical Certificate in accordance with the requirements stipulated for regular crew by the continental shelf authority for the current operating area
Training as per the Training Matrix or as designated by the client
Requisitioning authority
· In cooperation with the OIM ordering the necessary medical items to maintain an adequate stock.
Safety and environment
Perform health and hygiene inspections at regular intervals
Participate in training programmes for the crew
Conduct in a manner which safeguards own and colleagues' safety and health
Co-operate in enhancing safety standards
Ensure own actions do not compromise the Company's procedures for safeguarding the environment
