Consultant - Mass-Casualty Management and Basic Emergency Care Training in Somalia
As part of the Emergency Response Unit’s (ERU’s) wider program to support Mass-Casualty and Trauma Preparedness in Somalia, IMC is seeking the above consultant to help prepare and deliver trainings on:
WHO Mass Casualty Management Learning Program (MCM) - The WHO Academy has developed the Mass Casualty Management Program for frontline healthcare staff working in emergency units, including doctors, nurses, logistics support staff, management, and technicians. (Total of one session including a Training of Trainers (ToT) session)
WHO Basic Emergency Care Course (BECC) - The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM), has developed the Basic Emergency Care (BEC) course for frontline providers who manage acute life-threatening conditions with limited resources. These may include students, nurses, prehospital technicians, clinical officers, and doctors who are working in field (pre-hospital) or hospital settings. (Total of two sessions including one Training of Trainers (ToT) session)
The consultant will work with the ERU training team to plan, develop, and deliver training sessions based on the above-mentioned courses and will assist in IMC capacity-building to deliver these courses.
Consultant Specifications
To perform this consultancy successfully, an individual must be able to perform each task with or without reasonable accommodation.
QualificationsDegree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or other health related profession required. Advanced degree preferably in Public Health desirable
Certification to deliver the WHO Mass Casualty Management Learning Program (MCMP) required
Certification to deliver the Basic Emergency Care Course (BECC) required
Extensive experience in the development and delivery of in-person training in low resource contexts required. Experience delivering educational programming in the designated geographical region desirable.
Experience delivering MCMP and BECC in low-resource settings required. Experience serving as a course director for the MCMP and BECC desirable.
Expertise in developing and delivering adult learning activities required. Expertise in leading educational teams desirable.
English is required; Arabic skills desirable.
