Chief Medical Officer (CMO) - MSSI

Summary:
The CMO will report directly to the Program Manager. The CMO collaborates with and receives clinical oversight from the Corporate CMO. The CMO is responsible for providing medical supervision, direction and leadership for all aspects of healthcare delivery for the MSSI-Iraq program. In addition, the CMO is responsible for direct oversight of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Public Health (PH) and Behavioral Health (BH) departments. BH providers will report directly to the CMO. The CMO is also the Program’s primary MRO.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.

Duties And Responsibilities
Supervise all physicians (including surgeons), mid-level providers and dentists.
Provides strategic direction for medical staff.
Serves as clinical leader for the organization providing support and education for other clinical leaders.
Establishes the strategic direction for physician services programs to meet short team advisory goals and deliver on long term goals.
Communicates the clinical vision so the department and employees understand how they are connected with the vision and values of the organization.
Provides direct leadership, oversight and accountability for the operational effectiveness of the physician services program.
Own and report on metrics to measure the impact of physician services.
Approve medical practice procedures and policies, guidelines and SOPs.
Provide advice on the availability of medical equipment.
Assists in planning for the development of new medical services.
Provides counsel in personnel matters relating to the clinical staff.
Review results of patient satisfaction surveys.
Ensures periodic review of practice management functions.
Reviews patient complaints.
Provide medical consultation as needed.
Provide direct patient care in accordance with the scope as outlined in the Family/Emergency/Internal Medicine physician job description for MSSI.
Participate in the development and administration of policies.
Participate in strategic planning.
Participate in development and review of clinical protocols.
Participate in the development and implementation of training and educational programs for healthcare personnel in theater.
Participate in meetings as required.
Chair the Pharmacy; Therapeutics and the Quality Management committees.
Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
Comply with all applicable Acuity standards and guidelines.
Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events.
All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 
Graduated from an approved medical school in the United States or Canada with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation or, a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
This accreditation may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
Must have a minimum of 15 (fifteen) years of clinical experience as a Physician in either Emergency Medicine, International Medicine or Family Practice plus an additional 5 (five) years’ experience in a HealthCare Leadership position.
Demonstrated experience in executive level interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a matrix environment.
Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Medical License.
Board Certification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
Current DEA registration number.
Have and maintain current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have a current U.S. Passport.
Requires a favorable adjudicated Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) investigation conducted by the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
Must sign a Acuity MSSI Foreign Service Agreement (FSA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the FSA.
Shall attend a Pre-deployment Counter Terrorism training course prior to deployment to Iraq.
Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management Systems software.
Normal workweek is established by the DoS Chief of Missions.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
The climate is desert-like, hot and prone to dust storms.
