Hiring Organization: Doctors of the World
Job Location: Central African Republic
Closing date24 Jun 2023
For more than 40 years, Doctors of the World, a medical association that is an activist of international solidarity, has been committed to treating the most vulnerable populations here and there, to testifying to the obstacles observed in terms of access to care, to obtaining lasting improvements in health policies for all.
As an independent association, we act beyond care by denouncing violations of dignity and human rights and fighting to improve the situation of precarious populations.
In France and internationally in nearly 30 countries, our actions aim to facilitate access to the health system by working on 5 priority themes structuring our struggles and advocacy: emergencies and crises, sexual and reproductive health, risk reduction, migration, rights and health and environmental health.
Present in the Central African Republic since 2013, MdM has recently repositioned itself through:The installation of a base in the sub-prefecture of Bouca (Ouham) since May 2020 with German funding GFFO (support to the hospital of Bouca and supervision and support of 4 health centers) and the extension to 4 additional health centers with funding from the Humanitarian Fund and UNICEF
The installation of a base in the sub-prefecture of Ippy since April 2022 through support in mobile clinic. This project, funded by the humanitarian fund and operating in 4 health centers and the hospital of Ippy, allows Central African populations victims of recurrent shocks to access free primary health care, sexual and reproductive health, medical and psychosocial care and psychosocial support for survivors of gender-based violence.
In line with MdM's strategic priorities, support for primary health services (PHC) is a gateway to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care. Thus, in addition to the management of the most common pathologies (ARI, IDA, malaria, etc.), MdM supports the implementation of pre- and post-natal consultations, family planning consultations and the care of victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and incomplete abortions. A diagnosis in mental health and psychosocial support has just been carried out in order to better define the intervention strategy and adapt activities to the needs of the population and the Central African context.
The intervention strategy for the coming period foresees an increase in operational and financial volume, as well as in geographical coverage. The repositioning of MdM as a central health player on the theme of VLG is also under development.
