DJBOSS: Firefighter / EMT / SCBA Technician
Summary:
Participates in fire and emergency services activities including fire suppression (Structural and ARFF), EMS, rescue, public assistance, fire investigation, fire prevention, pre-fire planning, fire company training, public education, clinical training and routine operation and maintenance of apparatus, equipment and facilities. Will serve as a structural firefighter, airport firefighter, driver/operator, and or Emergency Medical Responder on a scheduled rotation. Obtains and maintains Emergency Medical Responder and CPR card as conditions of employment. Obeys orders of supervisors, cooperates with fellow Fire Fighters, and follows the orders of medical direction. Maintains a neat appearance, physical fitness, acceptable grooming standards, and maintains good conduct. Fills in on shifts when needed.
Position requires work schedule flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed to complete staffing requirements.
Position requires individual to be on standby for emergency recall.
As an SCBA Technician, the individual will be tasked with servicing, maintaining, repairing, testing, tracking, and inventorying all Fire Department SCBA and related components. This includes but is not limited to:Ensuring all testing, maintenance, inventory, and status information is captured, entered, and kept up to date in the Enterprise Safety Application Management System (ESAMS).
Ensuring personnel fit testing is current and the data is captured, entered, and kept updated in the Enterprise Safety Application Management System (ESAMS).
Ensuring all SCBA and related equipment is kept in a constant state of readiness.
Completing all required testing of SCBA and related equipment.
Completing all required maintenance and repairs of SCBA and related equipment.
Preparing ordering information for any/all needed repair parts.
Must comply with all safety rules and policies.
Duty assignment(s) will be directed by the Fire Chief and/or Assistant Chiefs; not inclusive of this job description and as needed to complete the mission.
All other assigned tasks as directed by superiors in chain of command.
Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health; fit for duty.
Must speak, read, write and understand the English language fluently.
Must be able to remain calm and think clearly under stressful circumstances; continue to multi-task.
Must have experience with computers and be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Subject to random drug testing.
Must pass physical IAW NFPA 1500 & 1582.
Must participate in the Physical Fitness Program (DoD I 6055.06).
Maintain currency with all local proficiency and ancillary training IAW instructions, SOP’s & SOG’s.
Must hold current country of residence driver’s license.
