Context:
IOM in South Sudan has a broad range of programming centred around three broad areas: humanitarian coordination and support; humanitarian response and resilience; and peacebuilding, transition, and development. Humanitarian coordination and support includes leading/co-leading the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI) Clusters, Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and management of WASH and Shelter and NFI core-pipelines, humanitarian hubs and common transport services. Humanitarian response and resilience includes CCCM, WASH, Shelter & NFI, health, protection, gender equality and inclusion, mental health and psychosocial support and the management of a Rapid Response Fund. Under peacebuilding, transition and development, IOM South Sudan implements programming on housing, land and property issues, transition and recovery, transhumance conflict prevention, community-based violence reduction, community development and migration management.
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM) and under the technical guidance and direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Migration Health), the Migration Health Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the emergency health programme activities for internally displaced people (IDPs) returnees and host community and other vulnerable populations in South Sudan.

Support the deployment and supervision of IOM Rapid Response Teams (RRT) in implementation of health emergency response through supported static and mobile primary health care clinics to ensure the implementation of quality primary healthcare services according to National and International standards.
Provide supportive supervision, monitoring and capacity building to health staff deployed on RRT missions on the implementation of Primary Health Care activities.
Chair the emergency responders’ meeting in coordination with the health cluster and ensure coordination of IOM’s RRT deployments while linking with appropriate local authorities, clusters/agencies at National and state level.
Maintain close coordination and facilitate joint work with UN agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
Be available for short-notice deployment to field locations in South Sudan as part of IOMrapid health response team (RRT) operations.
Conduct health and nutritional assessments, vaccination campaigns, and coordination of medical evacuation as needed across South Sudan.
Ensure adherence to RRT’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintenance of medical records in a safe and confidential manner across IOM health programmes in South Sudan especially during RRT deployments to deep field locations.
Review weekly health reports and provide feedback to field teams with technical advice and contribute to regular reporting on project achievements, challenges encountered, pertinent developments and strategic needs.
Produce regular updated, technical brief and other informative and advocacy material to increase IOM visibility.
Maintain high standard of knowledge with continuous learning ensuring IOM quality work.
Support information sharing and coordination mechanisms between and among other IOM units (e.g., Protection/Gender Based Violence (GBV), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH), Non-Food Items (NFIs), etc.) as well as with other programme units such as Logistics, Security, Human Resource and Finance units.
Represent IOM at relevant coordination meetings as delegated by the Programme Coordinator (Migration Health).
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
