Overview
The paramedic sets goals, assigns tasks, delegates duties, with clear definitions of success as well as target dates. The paramedic falls under direct supervision of the lead paramedic. In the absence of the lead paramedic the paramedic is supervised by the ranking Senior Fire Officer (SFO) on-duty. The paramedic completes all tasks assigned by the lead paramedic or F&ES Management.
Responsibilities

Responds to emergency calls, provides advanced life support in accordance with EMS protocols, and assists other members of the department.
Maintains vehicles and equipment in a serviceable and ready condition.
Participates in continuing medical education (CME) and training activities, both as an instructor and as a student, depending on the nature and purpose of the course.
Communicates effectively in writing, verbally and over the radio or telephone.
Performs various other tasks as assigned by the Fire Chief or his designee.
Complies with all applicable rules, regulations/standard operating procedures, as directed By the Fire Chief, Program Manager and Base Commander.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
An associate’s degree is preferred.
The knowledge, skills and abilities that are essential for this position are consistent with The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.\
Must be CAC Eligible and/or able to obtain a CAC
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination:
Qatar (and certain airlines) now require proof of COVID-19 Vaccination. The definition of fully vaccinated is that you’ve: 1.) received a vaccine that is recognized by the governing entity and is either a.) Two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine b.) Two doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine c.) Two doses of Moderna Vaccine (or) d. One dose of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, and 2.) Two weeks elapsed after the final dose was administered, which is either one or two doses depending on brand of the vaccination. You must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to qualify for this position.
Experience:
The paramedic must have a minimum of four years' of experience working on an emergency response ambulance.
In addition, the paramedic must possess NREMT-P certification or equivalent, and American Heart Association, BLS/CPR certification.
The Paramedic must be in good standing with their certifying organization, and they must maintain these certifications for the duration of their employment.
Skills:
Need above average communicative skills, both written & oral, computer skills, copier/scanning experience and the ability to learn newly admitted equipment into the EMS inventory.
Preferred, seasoned instructor in the EMS career field.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Paramedic supervises EMT-B’s assigned to their ambulance for the 48hr on/off rotations.
The Paramedic will also evaluate medical supplies, quantities and communicate with F&ES Management for budget increases or decreases through the Fire Chief.
Working Conditions:
Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions.
One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
Physical Requirements:
The paramedic must have the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 45 lbs and be able to collectively lift, carry, and balance patients who weigh in excess of 100 lbs. In addition, the Paramedic must have the ability to pull and reach with both hands; crawl, kneel, bend and climb; work outdoors in excessive heat or cold, high humidity or dry atmospheric conditions.
The paramedic will be exposed to lifting, pulling and numerous strenuous activities that paramedics face during medical response calls. Furthermore, the climate in which strenuous work activities will be required is extremely hot/humid or cold during certain parts of the year/time of day.
