Responsible for responding to fires, rescue, and medical needs of the AUTEC Community to include all Range User personnel, visitors, and assets associated with the AUTEC project.
Responsibilities:
The EMS Lieutenant will serve as the Field Training Officer and lead Emergency Medical skills instructor to include development and administration of skill assessment and development programs and administration and tracking of National and State level EMT In-Service and recertification requirements.
Manage In-Service and recertification requirements for all department Emergency Medical Technicians.
Instruct and certify Medical Department staff in ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS competencies.
Perform CPR/BLS and related training for base populous as required.
Perform general structural and aircraft firefighting and rescue duties and responsibilities through a variety of established techniques and approaches under the supervision of a company officer.
Respond to medical emergencies and performs basic and advanced pre-hospital patient care in accordance with established protocols and standard procedures.
Respond to Hazardous Materials emergencies and perform control and containment tasks.
Perform as Company Officer and Duty Officer when required
Perform as Incident Safety Officer or Incident Commander as directed
Drive a variety of fire emergency vehicles, ambulances, and related vehicles to emergency and non-emergency incidents in a safe and professional manner.
Perform CPR/BLS and related training for base populous as required.
The EMS Lieutenant will also maintain licensure to provide instruction and certification to Medical Department staff to include the staff nurses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support.
Operate fire apparatus pumps and appliances to produce required fire flow demands.
Perform basic daily operator inspections and maintenance on fire apparatus.
Clean, wash, and service equipment, inspect, test, and maintain equipment and pumps including but not limited to nozzles, appliances, fittings, fire extinguishers, hand and power tools, ropes, ladders, emergency lighting equipment, generators, rescue and first aid and related equipment.
Flow-test fire hydrants and fire sprinkler systems.
Receives general supervision from a Fire Captain.
Exercise technical supervision over 14 shift assigned personnel in training and during emergency medical incidents.
Perform facility fire prevention inspections and related services as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Shall exercise technical/instructional supervision over personnelQualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years related experience working in Firefighter position required.
Minimum of two (10) years working in an EMT-A or EMT-P position required with at least four (4) years in a supervisory capacity.
IFSAC Fire Fighter II or above and IFSAC Airport Fire Fighter certifications required.
Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced or Paramedic certification required.
Maintain License, Certification, and Professional Affiliation to instruct and certify other medical professionals in Pre-Hospital Emergency Life Support skills (ACLS, PALS, PHTLS)
American Heart Association CPR/BLS instructor or instructor-trainer certification required.
Obtain IFSAC Fire Instructor I, IFSAC HazMat Technician, IFSAC Fire Officer I within one (1) year.
Confined Space Rescue, Water Rescue, and Technical Rescue certifications preferred.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds of material or equipment
Must be able to work in confined spaces or from ladders and towers
Must be able to complete a respirator fit test and wear Self Contained Breathing Apparatus while performing strenuous work in hazardous atmospheres.
Proficiency in Personal Computers and Microsoft Office products such as excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Must complete company physical and recurrent annual physical
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Valid Driver’s License and passport will be required.
Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
