Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator, this position has primary responsibility of providing oversight for daily nursing management of nursing staff, nursing assistant staff, and the nursing care of patients during a disaster response. This would include oversight of nursing activities within the reproductive health area, triage and patient intake are, emergency department, isolation and the routine patient care areas of the EMT Type 1.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Deputized Medical Coordinator as needed
Represent International Medical Corps in coordination meetings
Ensure pharmaceutical supply chain by monitoring pharmaceutical use, stock and raising procurements
Support timely assessments, data management, proposal development and reporting
Supervise nursing staff and nursing assistants to ensure proper patient flow throughout the EMT operation.
Ensure effective triage of patients via a complete understanding of the various triage systems used by the EMT operation.
Proper use of established Standards of Practice (SOPs)for different types of patients;
Provide direct care to patients in the diagnosis and treatment in primary emergency health care when necessary;
Ensure that all the necessary items are supplied throughout the EMT Type-1 facility.
Ensure the entire Nursing Staff is cognizant of infection control SOPs.
Identify the educational needs of nurses and nursing assistants.
Monitor the delivery of healthcare by midwife or physicians to ensure that patients have up-to-date patient cards and are properly recorded and accounted for the reporting and the management of cases.
Nurse Supervisor follows all regulations concerning infection control and protective measures and will supervise the IPC nurse.
Gives treatment at the appropriate time as prescribed by the doctor.
Calls the doctor on duty if any medical problem arises.
Ensures that the patients and their bedding are clean.
Assists with the physicians with clinic rounds, and records the necessary medical information.
Makes a detailed report at the end of the shift in the report book. In addition, ensure that the triage log book and the patient intake forms are completed and that patients are properly banded or otherwise identified according to SOP.
Ensure that new patients are logged and all paperwork is completed by the nursing staff.
Attends and participates in the weekly meeting.
Assist with patient stabilization and transfer as needed, and that all information is gathered according to SOP.
Ensure the isolation tent has the proper PPE to address communicable diseases and ensure proper notification throughout the EMT once a patient is sent to OBGYN, Isolation, or the Emergency Department.
Assigns and supervises IPC nurse

Qualifications:
BSc or diploma in nursing
Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid license to practice
Master’s in Public Health preferred
Any additional certification in healthcare administration will be considered an advantage
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as Nurses’ Supervisor or similar role,of which at least one (1) year should be of developing country experience or in low-resource settingProfessional experience in Humanitarian Health Sector and in communicable disease prevention in clinical settings desirable
Experience in overseas programs relating to primary health care, maternal and child health, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and communicable disease prevention & control experience in clinic settings desirable
Working knowledge of International Medical Corp Emergency Medical Team procedures highly desirable
Previous NGO experience preferable
