Medical Teams International is a lead agency in responding to the health needs and rehabilitation of refugee populations during long-term crises.
Some crises create long-lasting health challenges. Outbreaks like Ebola devastate health systems. Repeated natural disasters weaken the local ability to respond. Civil war and political turmoil force people into refugee camps where health care is scarce. We respond to long-term crises by helping rebuild health systems. We work with the local community members to determine the greatest needs and, together, come up with solutions to ensure health facilities can serve patients long after we're gone.
Project Activities
Volunteer medical professionals serve by providing a high quality capacity building program to national staff in areas identified by Medical Teams in need of support and strengthening. Alongside national staff, our volunteers assist in ensuring a high quality of care is provided to refugee populations and that appropriate clinical standards are maintained. Program activities include group and one on one trainings as well as onsite mentorship and support. Contact us to learn where we are currently serving.
How You Can Help:
Our goal is to provide greater capacity building support to ensure better program sustainability for the millions of displaced peoples and refugees in need of integrated health services.
