Job Description
Scope:
Physician will provide medical (hospital) services in support of COVID-19 treatment for U.S. and NATO personnel in Afghanistan. This position reports to the Site Lead at the on-site unit.
Locations:
Bagram Airfield (BAF), Kandahar Airfield (KAF) and Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in Afghanistan.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Respond to patients’ medical problems by referring to their history, carrying out diagnosis, treatment, counseling and referral, where necessary.
Order lab tests and interpret the test results.
Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
Collect, record and maintain sensitive patient information such as examination results, medical history and reports.
Perform minor surgeries.
Liaise with medical professionals in the community and hospitals.
Explain procedures or prescribed treatments to patients.
Promote health education in conjunction with other health professionals.
Meet targets set by government for specified treatments.
Monitor and record patients’ progress.
Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.
Discuss and evaluate new pharmaceutical products with pharmaceutical representatives.
Keep up-to-date with medical developments, treatment and medication.
Closely documents patient care, protocols and unit procedures.
Demonstrates understanding and ethics surrounding patient confidentiality and risk management.
Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited Medical school in which an MD or DO degree was earned.
Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience as a Physician.
5 years of residency training (essential).
Hold and Maintain a license as a physician.
Federal DEA license required.
Good understanding of health information structures and technology.
Available to work 12-hour day or night shifts.
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced austere environment.
Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License.
Must have a current U.S. Passport.
Physical Requirements:
Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance Caliburn Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
