Job Description
Reports to GHS Deputy Chief Medical Officer: The Regional Medical Director is responsible for providing medical leadership and expertise throughout the clinics in Afghanistan. Additionally, the Regional Redical Director will liaise with external medical consultants contracted by the company and verify competence through random audits for medical and clinical accuracy. The Regional Medical Director is responsible for medically overseeing patient care teams of physicians, mid-level providers, paramedics, nurses, and clinical technicians.
· Performs clinical governance oversight.
· Provides medical direction and administration including, but not limited to, developing medical protocols.
· Supervises physicians, mid-levels employees and provides leadership for quality improvement guidelines and programs.
· Ensures that medical staff accurately documents all patient contact and medical care.
· Performs as an active member of the medical team.
· Oversees and executes maintenance and improvement of key areas within practices.
· Evaluates and implements clinical re-design initiatives that promote the consistent delivery of high-value care.
· Participates in physician leadership committees and training initiatives.
· Regularly coordinates, attends and direct practice meetings for both staff and clinicians.
· Appropriately addresses concerns regarding the conduct and performance of physicians and clinical staff.
· Provides evaluation along with evidenced based appraisal and observations to physicians to improve patient care, clinical operations and comprehensive processes of care.
Qualifications:
· Graduation from an accredited WHO approved Medical University. Listed in World Directory of Medical Schools.
· Current unrestricted licensure to practice medicine.
· Minimum 10 years practice experience in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine.
· Ability to interact professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds.
· Aptitude to collaborate and communicate effectively with managers, co-workers, consultant-grade clinicians and public personnel.
· Capacity to communicate competently, efficiently and concisely with internal and external customers, both verbally and written.
· Consistently demonstrates a positive and proactive customer service attitude.
· Maintains exemplary ethical conduct; quality public service and equitable assessment of employees, external consultants and the general public.
· Capability to perform as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality.
