Bahamas Hurricane Dorian Response - General Call for Responders
As Americares responds in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, which impacted the islands of the Bahamas last month, we are looking to recruit medical professionals with experience in the fields of clinical medicine, nursing, mental health counseling and psychosocial support and pharmacy management to continue assisting the needs of the populations in the affected areas. The conditions are challenging, but the need is great so we hope you will consider joining our team.
Key considerations:
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
o General / Primary care medicine
o Nursing
o Mental Health Counseling and Psychosocial Support Services
o Pharmacy Inventory Management
Active license to practice is required. Master’s degree preferred. Be prepared to share credentials documents.
Prior experience in emergency / disaster contexts or in limited resource settings is helpful but not required.
Knowledge or Proficiency in Haitian Creole is an asset.
Time commitment: A minimum of one month. Assignment may last up to 3 months.
Compensation: All positions are volunteer or consultancy-based (a stipend will be provided to cover incidental expenses). Travel and lodging expenses will be covered.
Travel logistics: Americares will coordinate and cover all arrangements for travel and lodging.
Security: Team members will receive appropriate briefing regarding safety and security procedures.
