Medical Coordinator , Iraq

Role Objectives
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the EHM Project Manager, the Medical Coordinator will perform the following functions:
• In coordination with the EHM Team, conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control assessment visits of UNMAS Iraq contractors and implementing partners' medical assets;
• Provide continued monitoring and oversight of UNMAS Contractors and Implementing Partners' Medics deployed across the UNMAS Iraq programme. Ensure that the Medics are monitored to perform their duties according to the required standards through regular visits and quality assurances (QA) inspections;

Act as Medical Advisor for the EHM Project Manager and UNMAS Programme;

Provide Emergency Trauma Bag and First Aid trainings to UNMAS Iraq and United Nations Country team personnel, local and international staff of UNMAS Iraq implementing partners when required;

Establish contact and maintain a contact data base of key strategic partners within the Government, civil society and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs);

• Assess and monitor the training curricula and lesson plans developed by UNMAS Iraq contractors and implementing partners. Conduct operational review of UNMAS Iraq contractor and implementing partners' medical assets Analysis of data relating to Internal Quality Assurance reports relating to medical support from the UNMAS Iraq contractors and implementing partners;
• Evaluation of medical facilities used to support medevac and Casevac;
• Active review of UNMAS Iraq contractor and implementing partners' medical SOP's/Medevac/Casevac and compliance with UNMAS Standard Working Practices (SWP), national (NMAS) and international mine action standards (IMAS).
• Ongoing review and evaluation of the applicability of the UNMAS SWP and UNMAS and governing documents to the DMA operational context;
• Make recommendations to enhancing survivability and well-being of mine action program personnel in Iraq; and
• Timely provision of reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Other activities as requested by UNMAS senior management.

Qualifications
Recognized Paramedic Qualification including Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) certifications
Certified and experienced in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
Diploma with 3 years of relevant experience or, University Bachelor degree with 2 years' work experience
Qualified ETB Instructor.

Experience
Experience working in Medical Training, QA/QC of Contractors and/or NGOs work or related field and familiarity with working in conflict or post-conflict environments with international agencies is required
Excellent reporting and writing skills is required
Fully proficient in software packages (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required
Knowledge of Humanitarian Mine Action/IMAS is desired.
Knowledge of the UN system and UNOPS procedures is desirable
Fluency in English is essential.
