HSE Advisor / Medic - FIFO

Job Summary

Assist the OIM in managing HSE performance and compliance at the facility in accordance with the requirements of the JSE Business Management System (BMS), regulatory requirements and other commitments (including Safety Case and Environment Plan).

Responsible for providing medical coverage during normal operations and emergencies, and for maintaining medical and pharmaceutical supplies.

Manning of facility radio and supporting administrative tasks such as Training & Competency, coordinating travel arrangements and maintaining manning roster.





Key Accountabilities:

HSE – 65%+

Understand and apply legislative requirements pertaining to HSE performance standards under the Jadestone Energy BMS (performance standards, policies, procedures etc).
Ensure that all personnel are aware of and comply with HSE policies, plans and procedures, including participation in ER exercises and regulatory training.
Proactively promote HSE culture.
Assist in the reporting and investigation of all near misses, incidents and non-compliances.  Maintain appropriate documentation and records.
Manage onboarding of personnel arriving/departing off the facility, carrying out facility-based HSE inductions and maintaining appropriate records.
Provide guidance regarding the shipment, packaging, handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances, and maintain appropriate documentation and records.
Ensure HSE KPIs are achieved and manage facility chemical register (ChemAlert)
Ensure contractor SMS interfaces are available, understood and followed.

Medic - <10%

Monitor the general health of the platform personnel and advise the OIM on issues, improvements or campaigns to gain overall improvement.
Administer medical treatment to injured and sick personnel, consulting with the Company Doctor as appropriate or onshore medical specialists acting on their advice.
Maintain hygiene standards on the facility, conduct audits, checking the general working environment with regard to hygiene standards.

Other Support - <25%

Responsible for helicopter traffic control and administration and updating of rosters and POB lists.
Provide clerical and administrative services as required by the platform personnel.
Perform role of facility radiation safety officer (RSO) Monitoring NORM's, training & maintain monitoring equipment.


Experiences, Skills and Knowledge required:

Registered Nurse (or equivalent, e.g. Nurse Practitioner, Paramedic, Doctor, or Military Medic).
Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
O&G industry experience (Preferable).
Knowledge of offshore installation / remote location experience working a fixed rota.
Clinical working experience in emergency medicine (Preferable).
Knowledge and understanding of the role as occupational health worker.
Experience of Permit to Work, Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, incident response, Medivac.
Experience in procedure development and writing (Preferable).
Integrity and strong business ethics with written & verbal communications.
The ability to work under pressure, self-starter and a motivated team player who can make a difference.
Computer literate / Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
