Job description
Reporting to the Deputy Program Manager, Iqarus is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Physician Assistant (PA). This individual will be responsible for the provision of both preventative and emergency medical providers in a contingent environment. In addition to medical services, the PA is responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading health education training and overseeing various recurring environmental and drug testing. The place of performance for this contract is Kabul (within the enhanced security zone), Afghanistan and the ideal candidate will have experience providing medical services austere environments. Potential applicants must be willing to live and work in the region for the period of performance. The duties and responsibilities listed herein are representative of the nature and level of work

Experience
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience administering first aid and emergency medical care to ill or injured individuals in pre-hospital settings
Security Vetting: Must be able to qualify for an MRPT security vetting designation.
Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with all levels of employees and vendors. Ability to speak Dari or Pashto is a plus.

Duties
Working with an EMT-P, provide regular and 24/7 emergency care across several sites
Take primary responsibility for logistics and operational management for clinic sites, including responsibility for medical inventory and management of controlled substances
Provide direct care to patients including examinations and treatments, recording medical histories, making diagnoses, and prescribing treatments and medications
Perform periodic health assessments and environmental health assessments
Help patients manage their well-being with patient education
Work closely with the DPM-P and QA/QC Manager to reduce and manage work-related injuries
Use evidence-based approaches for the management of all health conditions
Evaluate patients’ response to care rendered and the effectiveness of care
Qualifications



Excellent clinical management experience and interpersonal communication skills
A graduate of U.S. nationally accredited PA program
Must have current NCCPA certification and unrestricted U.S. State licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent
Independent thinking, self-confident, organized, and hardworking
Must be able to engage effectively with a culturally diverse workforce
Must be able to provide clear, concise written updates comprehensive to a lay audience
Experience with financial management as it relates to clinic resources is highly preferred
Must be able to work effectively under stress and pressure
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Required
Education: Graduate of nationally accredited PA program with active license/certification is required.
PAs must have current NCCPA certification and unrestricted U.S.state licensure.
Applicants with additional, relevant certifications (e.g., PHTLS, TCCC) will be looked upon favorably.

Experience
Minimum of four (4) years in the healthcare system with at least one year of management experience preferred.
Experience working in urgent care, trauma, and/or in a conflict environment is highly preferred.

Security Vetting
Must be able to qualify for an MRPT (Moderate Risk for Public Trust) security vetting designation. Must maintain eligibility at the required security level for the duration of the contract.

Language Skills
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with all levels of employees and vendors.
