ICU Nurse , Iraq

The Role
As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the project's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. The ICU nurse is responsible for providing safe patient-centered care. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and members of the health care team. The RN may be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, and others as defined by the project's regulations.

Essential Job Duties:

Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured patients in Medical/Surgical units;
Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff

Provides physical and psychological support for patients, reinforces patient understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills
Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards
Measures health outcomes against patient care goals and standards and protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
Location

This position would be in an office setting on a U.S. Government compound located in Iraq. The successful candidate should be tolerant of hot desert-like environments with occasional dust storms. The role could require travel to multiple sites within Iraq and the potential of travel outside of the country for executive meetings or training.


Position Requirements: 

Minimum Requirements

Active license/certification as a registered nurse (RN) or home country equivalent
Unrestricted U.S. (State) Nursing License
3+ years of experience as a registered nurse (RN)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Fit for Duty (FFD) clearance
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) – CPR or equivalent(s)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent(s)
Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent(s)
All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least six months out of the past year
