Paramedic is responsible for carrying out instruction under the direction of the MA Team Leader or as detailed in the DDG SOP’s. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
The MA Medic shall maintain accurate details of the work location and contact details for all relevant local medical facilities.
Ensure that the assigned medical equipment is complete and serviceable as described in the Medical SOP and the on-site requirements SOP.
Remain alert and available at all times during clearance activities in the field.
Ensure that the Ambulance/safety vehicle is available and capable of evacuating a casualty.
Maintain a high level of collective hygiene at the work site, the Ambulance at all times.
Inspect/ensure the validity of medicine, drugs and equipment on a Daily basis.
Report any problems or concerns related to medical coverage, equipment or medical kits in the operation area to the Team Leader.
In the event of an incident/accident requiring medical support the medic shall provide the necessary support to stabilise any patients until such time as MEDEVAC / CASEVAC resources are available, or deliver the casualty to the nearest suitable medical facility.
Conduct Casevac excersise at least once a month, when starting a new task site or when ordered to by the DDG TL / NOM / DDG TA / DDG OM.
Conform to IMAS and NMAS.
The MA Medic is required to use a handheld radio or other communications system (cell phone) to monitor the progress of demining operations and maintain a link with the DDG Radio Operator.
Report to and take direction from the MA Team Leader as requested.
Conduct periodical refresher/continuation medical training for all project staff.
Provide general support in respect of DDG operations in theatre.
Provide relevant emergency room ambulatory experience in trauma situations.
Communicate effectively and concisely with receiving hospitals and physicians.
Ensure high standards of conduct are adhered to.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have one-year experience in Mine action. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and Basic English.
Two years’ experience as a nurse or paramedic at a hospital or clinic.
Excellent timekeeping and prioritization skills.
An understanding and commitment to DDG/DRC aims and values.
Prepared to work long hours to ensure adequate medical cover is maintained in support of operations.
Be well presented with excellent personal and oral hygiene.
Desirable
Ability to speak other International languages
Other relevant qualifications or training courses.
Full driving license.
Prior experience in delivering training an advantage.
