Nurse Coordinator , Africa

Location: Sierra Leone
Closing date: 24 May 2016

Key responsibilities and objectives of the job include:
Overseeing project implementation, including responsibility for the project budget, record keeping, and creation of project plans and timelines working with the Operations Manager, Grants Manager and UK based finance team
Maintaining project related communications, including by maintaining flow of information from project staff to the Clinical Manager, serving as key point of contact for management/external bodies about the project
Liaising with the Nursing Technical Advisory Committee at King’s Health Partners, donors, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, and other NGOs participating in the national IPC programme and nursing projects more widely
Reporting - undertaking monitoring and evaluation of this project; ensuring that appropriate data is collated and submitted to demonstrate achievement of the project aims
Working with senior nursing staff and the MOHS to develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and protocols to improve delivery of care
Providing in-service training based on policies and other priority areas identified by our partners
Monitoring the implementation process and addressing issues as they arise in the clinical setting
Providing support to senior nursing management in Connaught
Working with the rest of the KSLP team to contribute to service wide quality improvement initiatives
Contributing to developing in country research capacity and supporting evaluation of our approach
Maintaining effective communication with other project coordinators on the KSLP team to ensure sharing of mutual resources and identifying possibilities for engagement and synergy when possible.

We are looking for candidates with the following background:
A Bachelor’s nursing degree or equivalent; applications from those with a graduate degree in public health or other relevant subject would be particularly welcomed
Understanding of Infection Prevention and Control and/or WASH principles
Knowledge of project management principles, including planning and budgeting
Experience working on clinical or hospital based projects in sub-Saharan Africa
Experience leading a team on dedicated projects
Specific experience with IPC or WASH programmes
Experience mentoring national staff in sub-Saharan Africa
Experience with supply systems, overseeing workshops and training programmes.
Extensive general nursing experience with management, policy development and education experience an advantage
Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills and sensitivity
Skill liaising with local staff with a variety of expertise and experience
Approach to improvement that incorporates sustainable systems improvement, synergy and capacity building
Skilled at leading and designing autonomous projects; multitasking and prioritising to complete those projects.
Organized and logical, excellent record keeping, problem solving skills
Managing difficult scenarios and navigating complex interpersonal situations, identifying potential problems, confidence and experience to anticipate issues and strategize to address them.
