Job Description:
1. To provide trauma and resuscitation response to a life threatening medical incident in assistance to the appointed medical officer (drilling contractor). Responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:
a. Audit and evaluate the medical personnel, equipment and provisions on behalf of OPSSA prior to start-up of operations.
b. Assist the appointed Medical Officer with the establishment and operational readiness of the site clinic, ambulance and medical equipment.
c. Assist the appointed Medical Officer and HSE advisor with the following training:
i. In post medical training.
ii. Emergency response drills (H.S, injuries at heights, RTAfs etc.).
iii. Medical procedures and protocols.
d. Draft a dedicated Medical Emergency Response Plan (MERP), detailing the specific processes and procedures that will be initiated in the event of a medical emergency (bridge with OPSSA and drilling contractorfs procedures).
e. Ensure a wide range of provision of medication and medical consumables (to be provided by the drilling contractor) in coordination with the appointed medical officer.
f. Assist the medical officer in sourcing and supplying of incidental medical equipment for site population usage and contingency planning i.e. First Aid Kits and Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) etc.
g. Full coordination of initial primary emergency retrieval from incident site to stabilization point (site clinic).
h. Initiate in coordination with the appointed medical officer the following programs:
i. Health Risks & Prevention Programs.
ii. Hygiene and sanitation within the workplace.
iii. Preventative methods to control disease in the work place.
i. Reporting.
i. Weekly medical report.
ii. Monthly consolidated medical report.
iii. Maintaining statistics of all work related treatment.
j. Preparation of medical site induction in coordination with the appointed medical officer.
k. Prepare, log and present daily Tool Box Talks for all PSC security personnel on site.
Skills Requirement:
1. ALS Paramedic Experience – Experienced international individual sourced from countries such as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America and the United Kingdom (because of specific EMS skillset competencies within those countries) for the provision of a wide range of patient assessment and treatment. The advanced Life Support Paramedic must be equipped with the skills and tools to be able to perform complex medical procedures without the need for consultation (such as an Endotracheal Intubation). The ALS Paramedic is fully capable of providing primary and emergency medical care to a site without physical support.
2. Communication – Fluent in English (1R/W/S). Upper/lower level communication.
3. IT – High level of computer literacy (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
4. Organizational skills - the individual should be able to develop, organise and manage the assets, personnel and administrative processes required for the specific post.
5. Leadership Skills - The individual must poses very strong leadership skills and confidence.
6. Proficiency
a. Current medical practitioner certificate.
b. Official drivers licence.
c. 3rd Party certification (Driver).
7. Armed – Unarmed
Nationality: Expatriate
Working Hours: As per operational requirement.

a. ALS trauma medical bag.
b. Computer and printer (Provided by OPSSA).
c. Mobile phone.
d. Adequate supply of mobile phone credit.
e. MOI Registered PSC cards.
f. Provision of all administration requirements (i.e. stationary).
Procedural Req:
1. The following medical procedures are to be drafted by the service provider.
a. Medical Emergency Response Plan (MERP) in coordination with OPSAA.
b. Medical Site SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
