Job Description

Nuna Winter Road Services Ltd. and Nuna Deton'Cho Winter Road Services Joint Venture are seeking qualified applicants for the 2015-2016 winter road maintenance and construction season. These employment opportunities are located at remote camps along the Tibbit to Contwoyto Winter Road and the Gahcho Kue Winter Road in the Northwest Territories. These positions are seasonal and are expected to run from December 2015 to March 2016.


Job Requirements
Registered EMT-A or PCP
Previous camp experience in a remote mining/construction setting,
Physical ability to lift > 50lbs for short durations,
Capable of working independently in a fast paced environment with good safety awareness,
Ability to effectively communicate through speech,
Reading comprehension,
Good organization and problem solving skills,
Experience with trucking dispatch an asset,
Experience with radio communications and protocols,
Advanced computer skills, ExDocs experience an asset.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responding to routine and emergency calls,
Providing patient care,
Coordinating emergency and environmental services in the event of an accident,
Coordinating search and rescue or air-ambulance as required,
Providing detailed patient care reports,
Inventory and replenishment of supplies,
Monitoring radio to relay and respond to inquiries,
Assist with dispatching and tracking in computer system of winter road users,
Administrative support for camp operations,
Maintaining detailed records of shift activity.


Work Conditions and Physical Demands:
These positions are a 3 week on, 1 week off rotational shift with both day and night shifts. Shifts will be 11 or 12 hours in length, overtime as required.
Manual dexterity to use desktop computers and peripherals
Sitting for long periods at a computer/radio
Physical effort and dexterity is required. Candidate may be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces, inclement weather and support extended hours and overtime as required. Position requires candidate to handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds. Occasionally, you may be required to lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds.
