Northern Seas travelling to Dutch Waters
3 week contract commencing 17th September
We require an Offshore Medic, who is either a Doctor/Nurse/Paramedic to act as the primary source of medical advice on the installation for any personnel suffering from illness or injury. They shall be capable of exercising appropriate and competent medical skills in the event of an injury or acute illness, providing advice, and consulting with onshore management, as required.
Key Resposibilities
Provide on-site medical care to all installation personnel.
Ensure compliance with the Client’s current Health, Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
Maintain accurate patient medical records and ill health/incident reporting in accordance with Intl.SOS Offshore Standard Operation Procedure and Policies Manual ,
Diagnosis and Initiate treatment of illness on-site as per Intl.SOS Offshore Standard Operation Procedure and Policies Manual, including initiation of prescription medications, (in consultation with the Topside Doctor); this may include acute medical and surgical conditions requiring immediate skilled treatment.
Provide initial emergency response, resuscitation and stabilisation of critically ill or injured (trauma) patients, employing ALS/ATLS emergency medical protocols.
Communicate and provide details to the Topside Doctor for the management and treatment of medevac cases, provide appropriate referral documentation for injured or ill personnel requiring medevac and liaise with logistics personnel to arrange safe transfer onshore to receive further medical treatment.
Order, maintain and control adequate stocks of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals in the sickbay, as per the Protocol Manual, the Company’s drug formulary and/or as directed by the Medical Advisor.
Operate all medical emergency equipment listed within Protocol Manual. Conduct a regular functional checks and keep a record of weekly checks
Ensure appropriate distribution and storage of medical supplies around the installation and sickbay. Dispose of clinical waste correctly and in line with clinical waste protocols.
Undertake housekeeping activities including but not limited to re-stocking and cleaning of equipment, e.g. monthly defrosting of drug fridge.
Assist in the planning of emergency procedures to ensure an appropriate first-line medical response to an emergency situation.
Actively participate in the installation’s/site’s emergency response for major medical incidents, including participation in medical exercises and the refresher training of first-aid teams and stretcher parties on the installation/site Emergency Response Plan.
Assist in Health, Safety Environmental (HSE) briefs and inductions for all new installation personnel.
Conduct non certificated first aid training with the First-Aiders, and casualty handling with Stretcher Teams using the Intl SOS first-aid training template.
Maintain complete and accurate written and computerised records, reports, statistics and referral letters relating to all clinical work and ensure the security and confidentiality of information under the requirements of the Data Protection Act (1998) and Access to Medical Records Act (1988)
Complete periodic potable water testing and take routine water samples for chemical and microbiological analyses, as per the Company’s procedures and maintain accurate records.
Contribute to the installation’s HSE meetings and Safety Rep. committee meetings and maintain appropriate records.
Complete regular hygiene inspections of the galley and accommodation using the Intl SOS hygiene template, in accordance with Company procedures, maintain records on site and regularly review catering company food safety management systems.
Achieve relevant objectives/KPIs as outlined by direct Manager
Maintain all first-aid and eye wash stations throughout the installation/site and maintain accurate records.
Complete further training courses relating to the role as required by Intl SOS and/or the Company.
Undertake a quarterly self-audit using the Intl SOS audit tool
Follow and Adhere to Client Specific Job Description, Roles and Duties
Ensure via the appropriate route, submission of timesheets and expenses via your SLO
