Fly in Fly out 2 weeks on 2 weeks off
5 weeks annual leave pro rata
Emergency on call when off duty, after hours call out fee
Monday – Sunday 6am-6pm

Overall Purpose of the Role
The Medical Practitioner will assess, diagnose and treat patients for work-related injuries and non-work related illnesses at client sites on Curtis Island in Queensland.

Specific Responsibilities
Provide emergency medical services, occupational health and injury management advice and support to the clients employees, contractors and stake holders to enable successful resolution of work injury and health related issues
Aid in the management of occupational vs. non-occupational case disputes
Aid in the management of occupational case rehabilitation, therapy and return to work
Assist the Site HSSE Manager in classification of medical cases as they relate to HSSE reporting statistics
Prescribe medication as necessary, including recommended immunizations and follow-up boosters
Assess, diagnose and treat patients for primary health care presentations including workers referred by other International SOS staff and from other camps across the clients site
Review of work related cases and their management, as requested by the client
As required participate in review of emergency case management with a view to identifying quality and process improvements
Provide advice and education to nurses and paramedics as necessary or as requested
Participate in scheduled meetings with the clients HSE staff as required or requested and to make recommendations with regard to improvements of clinical services provision
Ensure accuracy and maintenance of all medical records and compliance with professional standards
Assist with auditing of site medical records as part of clinical governance procedures
Comply with privacy legislation and Intl.SOS Policy and Procedures Manual including the confidentiality agreement
Refer to, and discuss with, external specialists for advice or treatment as necessary or requested
Contribute to the development of standards and local work instructions for the management of the health and wellbeing of patients and rectification of identified problems
Undertake any other duties as determined by the Manager /or Supervisor as requested.



Required Work Experience
Significant full time experience in General Practice or equivalent.
Fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM is highly desirable.
Experience with computerised medical records and medical practice systems are highly desirable.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Medicine.
Full medical registration in Australian state of current professional practice.
Occupational health qualifications desirable but not essential .
