Medical Technical Advisor , Kabul Afghanistan

Job Summary
Serve as a Technical Advisor to mentor the National Security Justice Center (NSJC) Senior Physicians in training/professional development.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Monitor NSJC clinic operations in the Afghan National Detention Facility and on the adjacent Afghan National Army Garrisons, ensuring that detainees and the ASI personnel are afforded proper medical care and that medical treatments (procedures and medications) are properly documented by the NSJC medical staff.
  • Advise and assist in the preparation of the Form 14 (MoD 14) process thereby ensuring all required medications and equipment are on hand or on order.
  • Advise and assist in receipt, distribution IAW MoD 14, and proper storage of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure proper sanitation, medical waste disposal, and medical coverage or support is provided.
  • Monitor and advise the pharmacist issuing, receiving, storing, distributing, and disposing of pharmaceuticals for the NSJC medical clinic.
  • Ensure weekly water chlorine tests and monthly pH and total coli form tests are conducted and reported
Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
Experience & Education
  • Ten or more years as Independent Duty Corpsman, Special Operations Medic, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant with expertise in a specific functional area relevant to this position.
  • Certified Health Service Administrator (CHSA) preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy as well as other Department of Defense (DoD) requirements for deployment.
  • Must be able to operate in harsh conditions of Afghanistan.
  • Must be able to live and work in austere conditions.
  • May qualify on and carry a weapon (pistol and/or rifle).
  • Must be able to obtain an interim Secret Clearance prior to deployment and maintain it.
Travel
  • May be required to travel throughout Afghanistan to perform duties.
  • May be required to travel to other countries to support Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) development.
