As a full-time ship nurse, you and your team of physicians and RNs will treat guests and crew in a variety of settings including routine clinic visits, first-response emergencies, inpatient critical care and emergency transport. Facilities include IV thrombolytics, point-of-care lab testing, and state-of-the-art digital x-ray.

A full-time Holland America nurse:
- Provides nursing care to guests and crew during established clinic hours, and is on call at all times for emergent/urgent medical needs.
- Assesses and triages all guests and crew who require or request consultation, and provides inpatient nursing care to all guests and crew admitted to the ship´s medical center.
- Is able to independently start treatment and stabilize serious/critical patients in emergent situations, e.g. insert IVs, interpret EKGs, administer IV cardiac medications per ACLS protocol.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of care on the appropriate medical records.
- Performs diagnostic tests, X-Rays and treatments and dispenses medications under physician´s orders.
- Maintains an accurate inventory and dispensing record of controlled substances in accordance with DEA regulations.
- Maintains an accurate and up-to-date log of all reported communicable or potentially communicable illnesses as mandated or requested by CDC, Health Canada & other local health authorities.
- Controls and maintains inventory of medical supplies per established procedural guidelines.
- Liaises with port agents to arrange shoreside specialty consultations and/or transfer of seriously ill guests or crew.
- After suitable orientation, shares departmental administrative duties with ship physician as Lead Medical Officer.

Qualifications:
- Current U.S. or Canadian registered nurse licensure and residency
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Current valid, unrestricted passport
- A minimum of 3 years of recent (within 4 years) emergency room, ICU/CCU or critical care transport nursing (direct patient care) experience required
- Reasonable degree of computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, ability to learn web-based CDC reporting programs and computerized billing and inventory programs. Experience with electronic health records systems a plus
- High level of proficiency and experience with patient triage, mixing and titrating multiple vasoactive drips, managing ventilated patients, administering IV thrombolytics, and interpretation of 12-lead EKGs and labs
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, listening)
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills, including teambuilding and customer service
