Job description:
The main activity of the diver « diver medic » is to accompany the casualty in the therapeutic chamber.
He must eventually be able to perform all repairs, construction and underwater inspection.
As a divers, his qualifications should be at least the ones foreseen for the DIVER job description
Tasks description / working conditions:
In contact to a hyperbaric doctor, he must promulgate cares during the therapeutic treatment, check the patient status and transmit the symptoms to the doctor. Ensure the patient good status.
He should:
- be capable of communicating understandably by telephone, radio or facsimile with the doctor
- be familiar with diving procedures and compression chamber operation
- be able to assist the diving supervisor with decompression procedures and advising when medical help should be sought
The Diver Medic must be fit to enter a chamber in an emergency and must hold a valid diver's certificate of medical fitness and maintain a personal logbook in which to keep the certificate and record details of any entry into the compression chamber.
He should also provide technical assistance or manual to the entire team when no therapeutic treatment is ongoing.
He reports directly to the Diving Supervisor.

The diver must comply with all safety rules indicated by Diving Supervisor, the IMCA Codes and the company policy on safety and environment.
Required Skills / Certificates
- IMCA Surface-Supplier Diver Certificate (French Class 2 Mention A or South Africa Class II)
- B.O.S.I.E.T. or equivalent offshore training survival course
- IMCA Diver Medic Certificate
Language Skills
Fluent in English & French (spoken & written); French is mandatory
