Our client is currently recruiting for an Offshore Medic/ Occupational Health Advisor on a permanent basis in Aberdeen.
Primary Purpose Of Job:
Sole provision of health care in a remote location, to critically-injured casualties and acutely ill patients for whom transfer to onshore facilities may be delayed.
Provision of general health care for population of up to 205 POB.
Supervise and support platform management and workforce on occupational health issues.
The job holder will support assessment of hazards related to Occupational Health and Safety issues.
Medical:
Provide onsite emergency medical care.
Maintain medical preparedness re. Medical supplies, equipment and procedures in line with the client's Medical Manual and defined Standing Orders.
Provide routine health care advice and education to offshore staff and contractors.
Provide inputs to Company Medical Advisor on work related issues.
Complete OGUK Medicals for the organisation's staff.
RADIATION PROTECTION SUPERVISOR:
Nominated competent person 'Radiation Protection Supervisor' in line with the client's SOP 403.
EVENT INVESTIGATION AND REPORTING:
Administration of the Event Reporting system - provide guidance to supervisors on the client's Event Reporting and Investigation Procedure Doc.
COMPLETE SAFETY INDUCTIONS IN LINE WITH SOP 014:
Induction Process - Donut Trainer, Skyscape trainer, Lifeboat placement and use, EER PPE and how they can be used, Mustering protocols.
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH FUNCTION:
Noise - nominated competent person for noise and compliance with noise issues, complete closimetry as per defined plan.
Exposure assessment - periodic exposure assessment monitoring within the client's annual plan.
Benzene testing - provide guidance on Benzene SOP to all parties and provide training with the Ultrarae.
COSHH focal point - provide guidance to on the client's control of substances hazardous to health SOP.
Complete COSHH assessments as required.
Manual Handling - provide Manual handling SOP and bodyguard process to all users.
Sanction risk assessments within the system.
Display screen equipment focal point - provide guidance on DSE SOP to all personnel and monitor compliance within the Cardinus PACE database.
Respiratory Protective Equipment - provide guidance on RPE SOP and complete Face fit testing as required.
Vibration - provide guidance to supervisors on the client's HAV SOP and expectations.
Asbestos - Maintain the installation asbestos register and provide guidance to Supervisors on the client's Asbestos SOP.
Legionella - maintain the installation Legionella risk assessment and testing records.
Provide guidance on Legionella SOP.
Hydrogen Sulphide - provide guidance to supervisors on the client's H2S SOP.
PLATFORM EXERCISE:
Prepare and co-ordinate weekly platform emergency exercises and maintain records of individual OIM in compliance with OPITO standards.
TRAINING:
Co-ordinate and maintain records all nominated First Aiders as per designated plan.
Provide training on all Medical elements of the Emergency Response Team training and submit record of attendance to Operations focal point (generally the planner).
Complete Coxswains training as per defined matrix and submit records Operations focal point (generally the planner).
Provision of training on an adhoc basis on various Occupational Health and safety topics such as required i.e. Firewatch, Entry Sentry etc.
AUDITING:
Primary Function Monitoring as per platform matrix.
Safety Conversation cards as per platform structure.
Occupational Health Audits - normally one per week.
Permit to Work Audits as per platform plan
ADMIN DUTIES:
Collate SC Card/ASA etc.
Collate PTW Audits.
Support OIM with collation of Trip Brief content.
Support OIM with collation of Safety Reps forums.
JOB CONTEXT AND MAIN ACTIVITIES:
The Medic/Occupational Health Advisor provides support, advice and training to staff and contractors aligned to the platform and Occupational Safety focus areas.
The help to ensure the client's compliance to all key Occupational safety SOP's.
DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:
Medical - They will provide sole guidance and response with regards to primary health care supported by the Topside Doctors and wit the client's Medical Advisor remit.
Occupational Health - they will be knowledge experts on key topics as described earlier in the document.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
The OHSC will provide ongoing support and guidance in all key areas of Occupational Safety.
The OHSC and Medical/Occupational Health Advisor will work closely at times and a functional working relationship is important.
OSTL will provide direction on key Occupational Health focus areas.
HES Manager, Technical Safety and Environmental Supervisor.
HES Event Management co-ordinator - provides support, guidance and resource regarding management of the event reporting procedure.
Company medical advisor for guidance on medical issues.
External:
HSE, Oil and Gas UK, Step Change and other external sources, to be up-to-date on current relevant legislation.
Radiation Protection Advisor to ensure field compliance with SEPA meets the standard requirements.
Topsides Doctor - guidance on acute medical management.
Job Challenges:
The job holder must be registered with the NMC and hold a level 1 nursing qualification.
They will hold a current HSE approved Offshore Medic certificate and a valid UKCS Offshore Survival Certificate and a valid OGUK Medical Certificate.
