Maersk Oil are seeking to recruit an experienced Medic. This role is responsible for providing offshore medical care and occupational health services.
Key Responsibilities
Medical:
• Providing 24 hour on-site first contact healthcare advice and where appropriate, treatment for all installation personnel.
• Providing (in conjunction with shore based medical services) immediate and life-sustaining treatment to ill or injured personnel, until such times as they can be evacuated to definitive care ashore.
• Maintaining the installation medical facility, its stocks and equipment.
• Controls all prescriptions, other medications and equipment used in dealing with sick/injured personnel.
• Ensures a high degree of accuracy in prescribing habits, diagnostic acumen, records and checking dangerous drugs.
Occupational Health:
• Provide focus for managing/advising on the relationship between occupation and ill health.
• Responsible for co-ordinating installation occupational health and hygiene (including COSHH, Noise and welfare).
• Responsible for co-ordination and management of COSHH database and information/data sheets on the vessel.
• Undertake role of nominated Competent Noise at Work Advisor & coordinate noise at work hearing conservation programme.
• Responsible person for noise management.
• Maintain NEMS model which includes dosimetry/noise surveys.
• In relation to Water Quality Management, undertake regular sampling to determine appropriate bacteriological/chemical content and quality of potable water.
• Undertake Legionella specific sampling, update/review appropriate Legionella risk assessment.
• Review results of water analysis and implement appropriate process to resolve/mitigate risks to potable water systems.
• Carry out galley and accommodation hygiene inspections.
• Provide guidance and monitoring in response to acute outbreaks of food poisoning/infestations etc.
• Advise on living conditions e.g. humidity/temperatures; liaise with maintenance dept on these systems.
• Investigate quality issues with regard to health and welfare.
• Face Fit Testing, Work Related Upper Limb Disorders & Stress.
• DSE Competent person, carry out DSE assessments.
• Manual Handling Trainer and Assessor by carrying out Manual Handling Task Risk Assessment and control procedures.
• Evaluating HVAC effectiveness.
• Report all accidents and injuries.
• To carry out health and safety awareness training as required.
• Participate in risk identification and mitigation activities.
• Embrace Industry training, development and culture by attending company training courses as deemed necessary and by fully supporting and participating in all company safety initiatives.
Administration:
• Manage reception service; allocation of accommodation, muster stations and lifeboat allocation.
• Operation of personnel movement programmes to include checking of daily flights, arranging crew changes to flights.
• Ensure movements programme is accurate and up to date.
• Carry out all logistic requirements in accordance with company procedure.
• Maintain all log books and paperwork.
• Carry out safety inspections as required.
• Commit to MOUK Competence Assurance System and undertake any training and assessment required for the role.
Who we are looking for
• You must hold a current valid Offshore Medic Certificate, issued by an organisation approved by the HSE to train, examine, and certify offshore medics.
• To be on the Institute of Remote Healthcare (IRHC) voluntary Register of Offshore Medics
• Reliable and trustworthy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to demonstrate professional competence.
• Evidence of participation in continuing professional development.
• Have a good understanding of Occupational Health Guidance Manual.
